I tried a can of those $1.50 Sardines. But I didn't like them. I've been spoiled by those King Oscar sardines. They are beautiful sardines. The best sardines.

I enjoy the King Oscar Mediterranean and the jalapeño versions.

I still haven’t gotten up the courage to try the large Goya sardines in tomato sauce.

I won't try them either. I find that the smaller fish are much better.

You might like this. I eat it over rice.

Or salmon cakes, yum.
stir up an egg, add chopped onion.
stir in salmon, maybe firm up with a crushed cracker.
Pat into shape and fry in hot skillet. Serve with salad and tartar sauce.

When my children were very young, and I was sick of cooking and out of ideas, we would have what we called a “living room picnic “. I would throw a tablecloth on the living room floor and we‘d gather around with cans of sardines, cheese, crackers, and olives. Maybe some raw veggies and a can of Vienna sausages.
The kids enjoyed it, I think because it happened rarely and they felt they were getting away with something.
