Say cheese (but not for the camera)

I was amazed to find out there are estimated to be over 2000 different varieties of cheese in the world.
I recently went into an Italian market, and I swear they must have had half of them there (Like 16 ft of just cheese)
One of my fav's is smoked gouda, though it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to label me a cheese-aholic.
It just has a marvelous way of making many foods so much better.

Mine too, I buy some for New Year's Eve each year.

I can't really afford the calories to eat cheese, but for a long time I'd sprinkle just a little bit of shredded Pepper Jack cheese over my breakfast egg each day.

Recently after a health scare I decided to try to eat vegan-ish (will take me a while to slowly change) since it appears they live longer and healthier lives than people with other diets, so now instead of Pepper Jack I've tried 'lemon olive oil' and I've tried 'Powdered Black Sesame Seeds'. They are tasty but I still miss the cheese!

I highly doubt a small amount of cheese on your egg will shorten your life. Enjoy what you like. Moderation is the key. I like parmesan cheese on my eggs.

the uk has 750 different types of cheese....
 
I'm a big fan of Blue cheeses... and French and English Brie....

I used love Dutch Edam and Gouda, but they're too acidic for me now....


British hard cheeses like Double Gloucester, and Red leicester as wll as Cheddar are best for cooking...like in Mac & cheese or topping fish pie

I sure wish I could find the statistics on how much leeway there is (& at what cost), I'm really new to this 'plant' thing, and it looks statistically that even just including milk and eggs in a vegetarian diet fairs worse than being totally vegan (but better than eating meat).
If I wind up with any leeway after figuring out how to change each part of my meals, pretty sure I'd spend any leeway on ice cream. :)
 
All I ever use is regular American cheese- which isn't as good as it was years ago- and shredded Colby/Jack for a recipe I occasionally make.
(generally speaking) Americans have never had an appreciation for cheese variety, right? Even in Wisconsin, our cheese-producing state, it's cheddar.

Didn't look it up, but I'll bet the 3 most popular cheeses in the US are, in no particular order: cheddar, jack, and nacho :p.
Ok, I'm joking about nacho. The 3rd one would probly be mozzarella. Because, pizza.
 
I love cheese! Why does the really good cheese have to be so expensive!
I like feta but don’t find what is sold in grocery stores to be very good. I prefer feta made with goat or sheep milk, not cow milk.
I've seen feta made with goat's milk in our local grocery stores that have a deli section. It's also in international grocery stores, like Trader Joe's and Corti Bros.

Wow, I hadn't heard of lemon olive oil. I will have to check that out. Sounds good on pasta and fish as well.

Wow, I just realized that if you sampled a different one every day, it would take you two years to try them, and if you sampled all the types worldwide, it would take 5 1/2 years. Who would believe there are so many ways to make cheese. But then again, there are almost endless distinct flavor expressions in wine (Depending on the variety of grapes, the soil, the climate, the aging, the storage barrels, and the huge variety of accents).

Love those Murmurr. Can't get a good cheddar where I am. Don't forget Parmesan. It's good on pizza too.

Actually, Parmesan is probably more popular here than jack.

I just really like jack. Monterey Jack, particularly.

Then there's American Cheese, of course, but that doesn't qualify as cheese. I don't think any species of mold or bacteria is involved in the making. Mold only comes into play when you leave it in the fridge long enough.
 
I came from Wisconsin, "the dairy state". So here (Michigan), I bought a ball of "spreadable" sharp cheddar but found it as stiff as
a block cheddar. Just out of spite, I'm thinkin' of eating half of it and then returning it to the store for a refund "Hey! This is NOT
spreadble !!" It is really tasty. But it's not from Wisconsin, so just to stick it to the store, heheh.
