Always enjoyed it but not played much in last few years as nobody to play with.

About 6 months ago a lady new to our town started up a Scrabble club - every Thurs evening, no commitment, come when you come. We usually have between 10 - 15 people per night, play different players each week. Range of abilities but we all help beginners.
Meet in a local Cafe,no cost, just buy a coffee or some food to support the Cafe hosting us.

During my late twenties while I suffered 3 years of painful medical issues and could barely eat any food, though could go to work in my career, I occupied my time at home outside of work by playing, absorbed in a type of solo Scrabble I invented.

I memorized many special high value words, including definitions, that are published in advanced Scrabble books, especially all the 2 letter words one can use to place words in adjacent parallel with other words already added.

Since then, have only very occasionally played the standard game during social group occasions. I warn others, they may regret playing with me if I pick up numbers of vowels and then they find out why. Much like video games or card games or TV, I could and would enjoy, long ago decided to spend my leisure time on other pursuits. And am glad.

My son and I discovered that we liked to play it about twenty years ago and now we play a game or two on his days off and have an annual tourney on his vacation. I don't think there's a better game for two people.

Just today, thanks to Senior Forums, I have a new Scrabble word that uses an X!

" "DOX" is a valid word in Scrabble, as it was added to the official Scrabble dictionary, including its conjugated forms, in recent years to reflect its common usage as a verb meaning to publish private information about a person. "
