Seattle No Longer Will Celebrate Columbus Day!

Just wanted to give a shout out to Seattle because they've decided to get rid of Columbus Day and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day instead! I think the article linked also mentions that Minneapolis made the same change. Good going folks, you've done justice to the the thousands that Columbus butchered and enslaved!

And to any Italian Americans who's a little put out by this decision, perhaps it would be a good time to find a real hero to celebrate. I'm sure you have much better than he was.
 

I'll buy in too. Never liked Columbus. I like pizza though.

I thought I heard pizza actually came from China.

Here we have local roads named that were named after the local indian tribe from the get go. And over the years the political hacks and public living life vicariously through their ethnicity demanded a change to Columbus. Ironically some theorize Columbus was actually Spanish.

Yes, but the "dog" pizza never had the appeal of Pepperoni.
 
Columbus was not Spanish, he was Italian (Genoa Italy). Columbus was backed by Spain for the exploration to claim lands in the New World for Spain then ruled by Isabella and Ferdinand.

Hooray! I finally remembered something I learned in school. They said going would pay off one day.

That used to be my montra come Columbus day before going pc in this case and called it happy American Indian day. This yet another reason not to over "celebrate" the "discovery" of America. They are all part of the history of America.
 
In a related story, Christmas will now be known as Purloined Pagan Holiday ... Thanksgiving will become Smallpox Introduction Day ...

... and Valentine's Day will henceforth be known as Hallmark Day.

C'mon, people - let's not stop at just ONE downcast minority!
