Are you for or against self-driving vehicles?

The phrase "not ready for prime time" comes to mind.

I will be in favor of self driving cars once they have proven themselves to be safe and reliable because it will allow me to remain independent even after I shouldn't be driving any more. (I should live that long.) But I want to remain in control. I will require that I can give it detailed instructions at any time. How fast should it go? Should it change lanes to pass a slow vehicle? Which route should it take? Which parking spot do I want?
 

Aren't modern train systems largely run and controlled by computers? They may have a driver also, but it's my understanding that they rely heavily on what the computers are telling them to do. They probably can override
what the computer is telling them, but if a train is about to crash into another one, wouldn't it automatically stop?
