Selfie Nuts Violating Barriers At Zoos to Take A Selfie

She didn't lean over the fence, she leaned over the barrier but the fence is within 3' of the barrier. In any event it ended well for her and the cat. The zoo is talking about moving the barrier further from the fence'

OK, I'll clarify...DO NOT lean over anything in any manor, that puts you closer to the animal.

I have a problem with the idea that it is always up to someone else to protect us when we venture out into the world. IMO people should evaluate the risks that they encounter in day to day life and do what they need to in order to protect themselves and their families. Changing the zoo barrier from 3' to 10', eliminating balconies on highrise buildings, adding barriers in our National Parks, etc... doesn't address the real issue of our own need for personal responsibility and common sense.

It's sad and I'm rooting for the jaguar, I hope the poor thing doesn't get indigestion!

Totally agree here....the more cool technology we have the dumber some humans become, not thinking ahead of their safety.....

Can someone help out the old, slow guy here? I don't do "selfies", but my understanding is that one holds their camera/phone out in front - pointed at themself - presumably with something interesting in the background or beside them, and snaps a picture. If her intent was to get a photo of herself with the jag-wire in the background, wouldn't her arm have to be pointed AWAY from the cage? Or was she just trying to get a selfie of herself leaning out over the barricade? I must be really dense.

:lost:

I worked with high hydrostatic pressure a good part of my life. The pressure ranges were from 5,000 psi to 22,500 psi. Over the years I witnessed very stupid people put their faces within a foot of a pressure connection to see if they could spot a leak in a pressure line. Now consider what 30 psi blowout does to a tire what do you think 22,500 psi could do to a human body. It never sank in to some no matter what you did or said.
