"Senior Moment" or just plain dumb????

Lat night, I got out of my car, and walked up to my front door. I had my car remote in my hand and clicked on it to unlock my front door. It didn't work. My front door didn't unlock. I pressed on the car remote harder. The front door didn't unlock. I did it again, a third time. I figured it was a dead battery. Only when I put the key in the door did it dawn on me that my car remote doesn't unlock my front door. DUH!! I guess you could say it was a "Senior Moment", but just plain dumb as hell seems to fit. So are our "Senior Moments" really just dumb moments?

:giggle:

You need help.

Falcon, you're terrible! (Haha). No, I believe it is very important to maintain a sense of humor as we age. Heck, I've confused the phone with the remote already as they were setting side by side on the end table. Hard sometimes to keep all the gizmos straight! Just a "moment" not to worry!

I think everyone at any or all ages do something like that once in awhile.

While at my desk at work one time, I tried to press the numbers on my calculator instead of my phone! We all had a good laugh.

You are truly blessed. My happy old Audi needs a key put into the door before it does anything. Hubby has one of those automatic push on some random symbol key tags. One day I expect it to go off like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...all the doors n' even the hood all wildly opening and closing. But you know why you are blessed? Push the wrong button on his tag and the car alarm goes off...so very embarrassing:(

The most important lesson learned. When you screw up something often you're the only one who knows. Really think about that. You have just messed up at home or work and you are the only one who knows how badly you just %$&*^% up. Really let it go instantly...you've got this straightened out...better than those other *&%$tards. Got it? Good>

The problem I find, as I get older, is remembering to do all the things that pass through my mind. I seem to always be "multitasking" mentally, and planning the things I need to do. As I get older, I find that if something important comes to mind, I better write it down, otherwise, I'll skip right past it, and remember it hours/days later.

A friend took an afternoon nap in his recliner. It was a very restless nap and he tossed and turned a lot. His son arrived home and woke him up asking why the car trunk lid was up during the rainstorm!! He had the remote in his pocket..

Due to the setup of my TV/DVD player/Roku device, I have 3 remotes on the table in front of my couch! Add to that my cell phone, plus my regular phone, and juggling them all around takes some heavy thinking! :) More than once, I've picked up the phone to click to change the channel.

I've gotten to the age that where I have to make lists. Also I've gotten to the age where I forget where the list is. And despite what TV ads say, 70 is the new 70. I've always done dumb things, but now, I can pass them off as "Senior Moments". On a more serious take, all but two of my older blood relatives-mom, aunts, uncles passed away with Alzheimer disease. It's always on the back of your mind.

Regarding lists:
There used to be a product; a small, hand held little voice recorder or tape recorder if you will quite a while back I thought I'd like to have someday. Around that time there was even a kid's toy called a "Yak Back".

This would be great to just record what we need to remember like where the car is parked in the shopping center, what books or movies you want to look up, groceries needed- anything.

It is about the hereafter, you walk into a room and say: "what am I here after ?"
