Senior's Memories of the BIG BAND ERA!

I've always liked Kalamazoo, SB! Every time I hear someone say ABC, I think of this song and end up humming it. Thanks for the post.
I'll be humming it all day tomorrow now.:(

I just caught the tail end of a PBS TV special on the Big Band Era Nancy, and they played that song...got me to start this thread, lots of good music back in those days.

Between my Dad playing his country music and my Mom playing the big band music, we always had music playing in our home. Here is one of my Mom's favorites. She heard the Belmonts sing this song on American Bandstand back in the 50"s, I believe and she liked their version better than Dorsey/Sinatra. I believe that there was also a movie titled, "I'll Be Seeing You."

These are some songs from the Big Band Era, please add any of your favorites!

What a great clip featuring the Glenn Miller Orchestra, with lead vocalist, Tex Beneke. Who was the woman vocalist? Marion Hutton, Betty Hutton's sister. And what about the great Nicholas Brothers!? They spice up every movie they were ever in. Pop music had such class then.

Big Band was actually something of my parent's generation, but even as a teenager when everyone had gone Rock and Roll, I had a strong appreciation for Glenn Miller.
Exactly. Big band era was definitely my parents taste in music however I belong to a jazz band that played Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman. I still play them on my saxophone to this day.

You're really bringing back the memories! I really liked there, "I Don't Know Why", and later, "A Teenager in Love". They did some great slow dancin' songs too!!
