Interesting article. A reminded that most shootings are not mass shootings.

Ringing the wrong doorbell.

Driving up the wrong road.

Approaching the wrong car.

Losing a ball in a neighbour's yard.

These are the common mistakes for which everyday Americans have been shot over the past seven days - one of them as young as six.

Rather than mass shootings, it is these smaller incidents that account for a majority of firearms deaths and injuries in the US. And this week illustrated how these isolated acts accumulate into a larger portrait of gun violence in America...

Excellent analogy, but I do so empathise with Americans, to agree with gun disposal has to be in agreement with all, villains included.
During the 20th century, 585 police officers in New York and 160 police officers in London died while participating in law enforcement activities. New York had markedly greater intentional police mortality rates compared to London throughout most of the 20th century,.

Intentional gunshot wounds comprised 290 police deaths in New York, but only 14 police deaths in London. In New York, gun shot wounds (both intentional and unintentional) accounted for more occupational police deaths (51.6%) than did all other injury mechanisms combined. In London, motor vehicle collision was the most common cause (47.5%) of occupational police death.

It's too easy to make jokes about driving, rather than shooting, in London. The point I am making is that most, not all, but most criminals, know that our police are unarmed. Go deeper into the statistics and you will find that those pointing the trigger at British police are either illegal immigrants, or foreigners, neither of whom know, nor care, that their victims have no firearm to defend themselves with.
 
The US cities where gun violence occurs have the strictest gun laws.
Criminals don't comply to laws......thats why they are criminals.
Many more lives are saved by good people with guns.
Based on the premiss of the 2nd amendment, guns are for protecting against tyranny.
When seconds count, the police are minutes away.
Attorney generals are lenient on crime in certain types of cities and state governments.
Open borders allow killers to cross into the US....and kill US citizens
Knives are also high on the murder rates.....should we outlaw knives? Cars are used to commit killings......outlaw cars? Point is unless we address mental heath issues, this will never go away.

Taking guns away is not designed to stop violence, but to disarm law abiding US citizens. Meaning, to enact one of the tenets of implementing Socialism......thats as far I'll go into politics.

That would never happen.
Gun free zones are killing fields for criminals. They know there will be no resistance.
If police are unarmed, then Americans would need to protect themselves and with the amount of guns across the country, criminals wouldn't have a chance.
Taxation without representation would force Americans to matters into there own hands.

In the UK, it's illegal to carry a locking knife or a knife with a cutting edge longer than 3inches/7.62cm in public.
Even if 3inches/7.62cm or less, if you can’t provide a justifiable reason why you have one on you, you will likely be arrested.
There are strict exceptions. Failure to comply with UK knife laws can result in a minimum of 4 years in prison as well as an unlimited fine.

From my vast collection of pocket knives are these Lamb Foot knives which are made in Sheffield England and legal UK length.
Just hope if you're carrying one, you're a farmer ;)

Between October 2021 and June 2022, 49,991 non-fatal crimes using knives were recorded across England and Wales, according to crime survey data released by the Office for National Statistics. This is equivalent to 136 incidents every single day.

I use them from the kitchen to the yard, home and away, even working on stuff.
I wouldn't say I have a collection but I've accumulated a couple hundred or so mostly pocket knives.
It's very relaxing for me to maintain them ... well that and chicken eye and coon finger them :ROFLMAO:

Unfortunately, all my accumulated firearms were lost in a most unusual and unexpected boating accident

A couple of hundred pocket knives isn’t a collection? Lol! That’s a lot of knives.
 
I read the article and frankly where is the rest of the story.......

many happened a few months ago listed in April and such..... but none shared the defense theory of the story........ i am sure they have made statements to police....... but those writing story did not inquire about that?
No we only hear the Media version that paints all honor roll students doing nothing that could be misinterpreted

some people are scared in their homes........media certainly does not help some create either scary vision of crimes or drum up feeling of anger...... so a strange car approaching their home or someone more then ringing once...... or will not go away may seem like a threat.

Yes mistakes happen ..... ever watch movies with cars in a parking lot someone meeting up with someone and i always wondered what happen if an average person was in wrong place at wrong time.
then there are some real mental cases ............ mental health is the biggest issue we have in this country.
