Senseless shootings rattle US

I read the article and frankly where is the rest of the story.......

many happened a few months ago listed in April and such..... but none shared the defense theory of the story........ i am sure they have made statements to police....... but those writing story did not inquire about that?
No we only hear the Media version that paints all honor roll students doing nothing that could be misinterpreted

some people are scared in their homes........media certainly does not help some create either scary vision of crimes or drum up feeling of anger...... so a strange car approaching their home or someone more then ringing once...... or will not go away may seem like a threat.

Yes mistakes happen ..... ever watch movies with cars in a parking lot someone meeting up with someone and i always wondered what happen if an average person was in wrong place at wrong time.
then there are some real mental cases ............ mental health is the biggest issue we have in this country.
Sure mental health is a huge problem! I see it whenever I watch TV advertising or often I see mental health issues in many of the new movies.

Fortunately, I don't have cable in my home and almost never watch a modern film. However, from watching all those years of "Gunsmoke" I often wondered if that Fetus Hagan isn't a bit of a "loose screw?"

Un arm our police?
Not necessary. All Australian police are armed and we also have tactical response units that are more heavily armed.

Civilians can own firearms but under strict conditions. They need a licence, and a reason for having one or more firearms, all of which need to be registered. Is that too much to ask. Is that too much to ask of citizens so that children can go to school with safety and people may attend places of worship without fearing massacre?

There’s absolutely nothing funny about this at all and I don’t understand why members are showing off all these weapons and bragging about them. It’s shocking and incredibly sad. šŸ™

The ironic thing is we seem not to be rattled at all.....it's the status quo. Many try to solve the problem by buying moar guns and it's become a deadly circle.
Maybe it has to do with their national employment plan. Gun shops hire employees. Gun manufacturers hire hundreds of people. The police can book over time any day of the week. Ambulance employees work hard trying to drive bullet ridden citizens to the local emergency hospitals. Hospital staff are kept busy trying to save citizen with gun shoots. It's a regular "merry-go-round with police and ambulance sirens providing the back ground music.

The problems need to be solved in the home and communities.
It's not the guns, it's the little a55holes raised and coddled with no conscience, control or common sense.
And when caught breaking the law, all they get is a finger shook in their face. Can't even slap them on the wrist anymore.
Don't think we can trust the government to fix it.
Look at the gun laws on the books now that aren't working in cities and states with the highest murder rates and harshest gun laws.
And speaking of government. I just finished my taxes and find I still owe Ukraine $15,387.40.

The amendment to the US constitution guaranteeing the right of every American to own a gun was passed on December 15, 1791. The problem then was too many black slaves were being incited by newly freed Haitian slaves coming to our shores and inciting US African slaves to revolt. Thus, our citizens, most of whom had large investments in slave property assets, needed guns to protect their property and their own lives.

Today there are no black African slaves yet we never repealed that constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right of every American citizen to own a gun.

Japan has more restrictive rights to own guns as explained here:

https://www.japannihon.com/can-a-civilian-own-a-gun-in-japan/

They seem to be doing just fine without so many guns in the hands of civilians.

I'm 88 and have never owned a gun. I do not regret it. Many times I was angered at others and, luckily for me, I had no gun to exercise my anger.

Switzerland and Sweden also allow citizens to own guns. However, to do so, the citizens must volunteer to serve in the reserves of their armed forces. Maybe a similar requirement should be enacted here forcing ALL gun owners to join our National Guard units in every state. Then, if war or national emergencies occur, they could be called up for active duty until the emergency was over. I have a hunch, if that requirement was enacted here, gun ownership would plunge.

If the tools are too advanced for your skills, stick with teapots or whatever you accumulate.
I’m a woodworker, woodcarver and wood turner. I’m quite skilled at using knives and chisels as well as sharpening them but showing off my ā€˜tools’ in a thread about careless killing wouldn’t be the thread I would choose to show them off.

Stick with my teapots šŸ™„
What a lame sexist remark

It is the gun!!!!! Assault weapons are made to hunt one species only: humans! Ban them, and you save a lot lives!
You have to be a complete idiot to think that you can use this gun for good. No one needs this rifle for a collection, or to hunt legally in season. There are other weapons made for those things.

As you walk down the street, look at everyone you see. Just think, by next month, some of those people will no longer be with us. They will be dead. Politicians get donations from gun manufacturers, so they will always vote against stronger gun laws and against banning assault weapons that we do not need. So we will continue to read about these massacres. Some of us may one day be some of the victims. I am totally sick of this crap happening over and over again.

And in Japan, just one year ago this month, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was killed with a homemade gun.
Here's an interesting article on Japan and firearms ... How are firearms regulated in Japan
Another interesting article about firearms history in Japan ... Firearms of Japan

Interestingly in a country with so much sword history, it's against the law to own a sword in Japan too.
At the end of WWII, America collected all firearms and swords of the Japanese.

I honestly thought you accumulated teapots.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I say. I've made you mad with a differing opinion and you've made me a target of your anger.

I don’t accumulate teapots nor do I do knitting or play bingo. šŸ¤”

Nor did I make you a target. I merely questioned why you’d decide to show your collection of knives in a thread about senseless killings. Yes I’ve got a personal opinion…… I find it ā€˜creepy.’

I edited and deleted the content of some of my posts. My opinion still differs from yours but I will not antagonize you or call you names for your opinion.

Yes our opinions differ. I haven’t called you any names. Saying I think you are a creep is calling you names since creep us a noun.
Saying I find your display of knives creepy is stating how I personally feel and creepy being an adjective can’t be considered a name, therefore is not considered name calling. We will just choose to disagree on this one.

But thank you for doing what you did. Somehow I missed that part.😊

Except spoons don’t kill people. You can’t load your spoon up with ammunition with the intent to kill
