When I lived in Washington State, I learned that Sequim is pronounced "Skwim." Rhymes with Jim.

In fact, practically nothing in that state is pronounced the way you expect. Especially the tribal-based names.
 
Since she's riding in the passenger seat she's obviously not there by herself. She probably didn't have a lot of other plans on her schedule that date and if she's like a lot of us, getting up early wasn't a big sacrifice.
