Oh yes indeed he does..he was born right behind the Kursaal on the front....Dolly, I wonder if your OH remembers the motorbike 'Cruises' along Southend seafront Golden Mile back then and in the end were banned.
here OTOH in the 70's jobs were abundant, ( at least the first half before we joined the EU) and we could literally walk out of one job one day and start another the next ..I did that many times while trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life.Holly, the 70's are a faint memory. We had a severe recession in Detroit, sent me backing back to Texas- yea the recession was nationwide.
really had difficulty getting a decent job. A scary decade due to economics. That is about all I remember, that too is scary.
Oh yes indeed he does..he was born right behind the Kursaal on the front....that was a very long time ago, when it was a nice place.. and he later moved to nearer the airport when he was a child, but that\s only 2 miles from the front anyway.. and later still to Old leigh..
The peter Boat was my o/h's' local, he lived just a few doors up from it... and we go down every year and never fail to get lunch at Osbornes.. . I've got loads of pics somewhere. Hubs just reminded me of all the custom cars that used to drive along the front... oh and as a child he lived in a road just off Victoria avenue.. .. that leads directly onto the front at the far end .. past the statue of Queen Victoria..I had a pal who lived in Victoria Avenue leading up to the sea front. Hubby and I went to Sarfend so many times I've lost count and for me it was the family resort we went to and know it like the back of my hand. Yes, I expect it's changed but I Like then esplanade and the refurb they did with the lottery grant I think the council were awarded. some years ago. Southend is a very special place for me with so many happy memories and dont think of the changes there and maybe looking through rose tinted glasses
Old Leigh!! I love that place and recall happy times there and having shellfish treats at Osbornes and drinks in the Peter Boat pub ansd the Cricketers opposite......![]()
70's. My daughter used to astonish everyone, because she was only 5 and she could solve it really quickly, I couldn't... but she was 5 at the end of the 70's... correction she was 5 years old in '81 I'm losing my mind...Did the Rubik Cube come out in the 70's or 80's ? Ive still got one somewhere and never managed to do it
