My nephew developed diabetes when he got Covid. When he was in the hospital his blood glucose was over 1100 and he was extremely critical. Never diabetic before getting sick in June. He's still on injected insulin, though all other Covid issues seem to have resolved.

And I thought I held the record at 705 from Sepsis after a botched root canal......

Maybe it's possible for the virus to attack the pancreas. I've heard about dental infections damaging the heart - although it's rare.
After 8 days in the hospital, I was climbing the walls & I told the nurse I was going home that evening, whether it was OK or not.
She said they wanted to do a "Cardiac Ultrasound" before I left because a dental infection can damage the heart.
