When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was getting pretty personal like those that hadn't had sex in a long time were being singled out

Well, if you click on the member's name and go to their profile page...it should say in the About section whether they are male or female. I do that when I want to determine what graphic comment would suit that person best (whether a welcome or HBD greeting).

Only if they have filled it in.
I suppose most people fill in the basics like gender. I ad mit I left blank all the questions about TV shows etc

On other forums I was occasionally mistaken to be male and I have mistaken other posters gender sometimes.

Doesn't strike me as a big deal - just politely correct/ be corrected.

One of my pet peeves in Senior Forum is not knowing the sex of members. Say "Pickles123" posts something, and you want to refer to 'Pickles123", what do you use. "He, she or it "? Some get upset if you call a "He" by "she" and visa versa. maybe a VOLUNTARY M or F with the avatar?

Or fuzzybuddy with a neutral looking teddy bear avatar?

I know some sites have issues with men being extremely aggressive with women to the point where they won't leave them alone. I've had to sign up as a male before on some sites just to keep from being sexually harrassed.

See me i have no problem 'ignoring', or 'blocking' anyone who becomes obnoxious. I usually put them on mental ignore first: Not responding to their threads or comments. But if they get pushy with me i use the digital boundaries.

While i try not to give unwanted TMI, i'm basically an open book. If i respond to a thread or comment i'm honest. This is part of why my avatar is my actual photo. I think it reveals my gender. I need to update it, tho. Cause i have more wrinkles and grey hair.

Even the aggressive political forum that I'm on lists either male or female in the avatar, although honestly we are never sure from the posts if that is true. I've never seen females attacked there. In fact, they do much of the attacking!

Mines pretty self explanatory. There arent very many guys named Veronica.

Ive learned to be wary of pronouns. They and all that.
Especially on the phone. Sometimes he sounds like she and visa versa.

I would like to know what country they are living in. Not that it matters,
but there are times when we discuss weather, culture, laws, food preferences and so on.

I've always been a curious about that. Why would someone not share their state or country of residence. The best answers I've come up with are either basic laziness or extreme paranoia. Neither is very flattering.

When such a person posts "Around here . . . " or "Where I live . . . " they are basically saying nothing at all.

The thing that I find most interesting about this thread is the assumption that people will give truthful answers about who they are, what they are, where they are, etc… if such information becomes mandatory.

I’m not sure what this says about us but it’s definitely something that the average scammer understands and knows how to capitalize on.

DUH!!!! I never thought a teddy bear could be female. I assumed they were all guy teddy bears. But, on closer examination I can now see why that might be.
