Share with us the dream you had last night.

Not last night, but the night before. I’m driving along the road; not sure where I’m going or why. After a while I realise I’m driving a gold coloured “Ford Cortina MK3 GXL”. I have never owned one of these cars, but my uncle did many years ago.

After a while I realised I was having difficulty driving it. It was a right hand drive car, but with the 3 pedals in the middle of the car under the dash. I’m driving with my feet position towards my left, in the middle of the car. I’m staring at these pedals wondering why they are there. Then I suddenly thought, “that’s clever, they have positioned the pedals there so to reduce production costs.” “They don’t have to redesign for left hand drive variants of the car.” It seemed to make sense to me at the time, in the dream at least.

Then suddenly I realise I’m not alone. There are three men in the back dressed in red. It seemed that I was taking them somewhere, but I didn’t know where or why.

Eventually I pulled over to let them out. I was at a long stretch of straight road, with a grass embankment on the left, and a tall long medieval wall along the length of the embankment. I get out of the car, and then the 3 men get out too. They get out slowly, with their movements in unison. They stand each side of the car and slowly turn their heads towards me; moving their heads at the same time. They all have the same faces. They are three Roman Catholic Cardinals.

Then suddenly they start moving independently of each other. One of them says, “thank you”, then they all run off. As they are running, one of them lifts their attire to reveal he is naked with no underware. And I watch as he runs, with his bits and bobs bouncing all over the place. Thankfully, at that point, I wake up!

Below is a short video of the type of car I was driving in my dream.

I was tempted to try and find and post an image of a Cardinal running with no underwear on, but I might get reported. Go and find your own image, if you are that way inclined. I would just like to point out that in real life I've never met any Cardinals, half naked or otherwise! Thought it best to make that clear.

If anyone wants a taxi service, you know where I am. Any time, any destination, and especially, "no questions asked!" Your lifestyle is safe with me.

I have very weird dreams. Last night's dream was that we lived in a house that was partially submerged in water. We had to take boats from one room to another. I remember being in a boat in the living area and remarking that the wall of windows was 7 stories high and how impressive that was. The house also had a plastic, Port-a-John type bathroom right off the kitchen with only a half door that didn't lock. I needed to go, but we had friends over so there were privacy issues. I was happy to wake up in our normal house!

I often think my dreams are based on something in my subconscious prior to falling asleep. I've been following the flooding in South Florida, so maybe that caused it.

Nice car.

My dreams are in bits and pieces and gone within a minute of waking.
I have had dreams I remember fully which we discussed in another post some time ago which I won't go into now.
I love this little verse I picked up years ago

Transient Dreams

I sleep, I dream, but momentarily away,
Are those fleeting images I wish to stay.
Nightly visits on which I set great store,
Are glimpses from happier times before.
Returning swiftly to whence they came,
On my awakening, I can recall no name.
These favoured familiars of times past,
Are but briefly enjoyed, for they fade fast!
Though I seek to know to where Iíve been,
I can recall but little of the fleeting scene.
Oh that I, emerging from the depths of sleep,
Could grasp my transient dream to keep.

Since quitting cannabis, I dream a lot. It’s probably because I sleep more. Some of my dreams are nightmares but some are just strange and unusual.

Last night I had a dream I’ve had before. It was about my brother who died in 1979. He was still alive but didn’t want any family members knowing. I met him at a big party.

I lost my flat sandals I was wearing too.

I’ve had this same dream before or something really similar. It’s really spooky. Another strange thing was that I met Debodun’s lawn mower guy. He was there drinking beer.

In this dream I was drinking vodka and orange but every time I tried drinking there would be a hole in my cup. I’m a non drinker so I find this puzzling.

Does anyone else have and remember strange dreams? Some of my dreams are more like nightmares.

I dream a lot, usually one a night. I dream in color, and in heavy detail. Some I remember vividly, some vaguely.

I do wish one could program the type of dreams they will have. Mine tend to be "frustration dreams", taking place at school or work (I'm retired 18 years & out of school 54 years). I have had a few about driving fast in a car or motorbike, a couple of flying (wow), and my personal favorite, of sex. But those good ones only come around every month or two. It just ain't fair!

I can never remember any dream, they fade shortly
after I wake, somebody told me many years ago,
that if I wanted to remember a dream, that I should
have paper and pencil on the bedside table and write
a keyword, or the whole dream when I wake up, I never
did, didn't even try it, to see if it worked.

In our Buddhist intentional community, we went for a couple years exploring our dreams. Each morning, we would discuss our dreams, and there meaning. We found that many times we would make connections between the activity in our dreams and what was happening in our lives. Other times the meaning seemed to lie hidden beneath something to obscure to understand. I have thought that dreams are our mind making connections that we cannot make in waking state. Our sub-conscious mixes with our conscious projections to create an "in-between" world. A world of its own, with a language of its own. Kinda like a movie we spontaneously create for ourselves. We found that sharing these escapades both revealing and very entertaining. :)

I mostly remember my bad dreams, but would attribute that to a measure of PTSD…
I’ve got cPTSD.
Dreams are amazing. I wonder if we cross into another dimension while we sleep? Maybe.
I’ve wondered that also. I get very lucid dreams when my pets are ready to go to rainbow bridge. It’s like it’s a way of communicating to us.

I waken knowing I was having a frustrating dream and can’t remember any of it. There’re little bits of a bad dream I had often and on for many years. Nothing of it in years.

Two nights ago I had a nightmare and I remember part of it. I was dreaming the bed was on fire, it was just starting and I had to get out before I was suffocated by the smoke. I was tearing at the covers. I hadn’t actually done this, because the covers were still in order in the morning. Of all the times to remember a dream, I wish it wasn’t this one.

I know I dream a lot but I only seem to remember the disturbing dreams or dreams about the place I worked at over twenty years ago. Still not sure why I dream a lot about a place I worked at over twenty years ago.
