Short Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey interview

After nearly 60 (the video is six years old), these guys still sound like they're having the time of their lives!

If you watch interviews with these guys from the '70s, they haven't changed very much, which shows how grounded they were. Keith Moon and John Entwistle were the band members who'd go out drinking and spent their free time partying while Pete and Roger focused more on creative pursuits and their families.

I have to admit, for some reason, when I was young, I didn't really get into The Who. The whole "pinball wizard" concept turned me off, and it still does, but their music from The Who Live at Leads era is timeless. I think that's when they were at their peak, creatively and as a band. It was before drugs took their toll on Keith Moon. Musically, they continued to evolve.

That's one of the great things about the digital age in which we're now living... We can go back and experience things we missed when they were happening.

I got to see The Who around 2000. A friend of mine who got the tickets was handicapped, so we all got to sit in the front row in the handicapped section with him.

It was in a huge arena. I would have loved to have seen them at a small venue like the Filmore or Tanglewood.

I saw them in 1989, twice, after being forced to miss them in 1982 because my parents said I was too young to go to a concert that big.

I've been a devoted Who fan since first hearting them in 1982. My secret useless talent is that I know all of their songs up 'til 1990 by heart. I do a mean "Another Tricky Day." šŸ˜† (Only in the car, alone, of course.)

Thanks for sharing that, @RambleTamble.

P.S. The shows I saw them were stadium venues but, like you, I'd love to see them in a smaller setting.

I have to edit my post: I should have said I do a mean version of "You Better You Bet." I have a blast trying to mimic Roger's vocals on that.
