President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted off stage by Secret Service after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC, on Saturday. Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Cabinet members are all safe, sources said.

• “The shooter has been apprehended,” Trump said on social media, commending law enforcement for acting “quickly and bravely.”

• The president said he is heading back to the White Houseat the request of law enforcement and will give a news conference soon. He also said the dinner will be rescheduled within 30 days.
 
They reported that 8 shots were fired and one Secret Service agent hit in his vest.
They said the suspect was tackled and not shot.
Wonder about the other 7 bullets and how this Cole shot an officer without being riddled with bullets.

There have been many video clips on YouTube already. It was a whitehouse correspondence's dinner, there are many reporters using at least cell phones to record this incident.

He obtained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2017 from the California Institute of Technology, followed by a master's degree in computer science in 2025 from ‌California ⁠State University at Dominguez Hills, according to the LinkedIn profile

The alleged suspect's LinkedIn profile refers to him working as a part-time teacher at C2 Education, a private test preparation and tutoring company, alongside being a self-employed game developer.

We had the TV on at the beginning of the dinner and was getting ready to turn it off when they reported a loud noise in the hotel, so we stayed and watched the event. It was a good thing they got out the President, his cabinet and other people at the speaking table. Other reporters were under the tables and some not sure what had happened.

My husband stayed up to hear the press conference with the President but I went to bed after seeing and hearing the same stories over and over.
 
Once you know everyone is safe. it's kind of amusing to look at the photos and see all those reporters, ducked under tables, but with their phones held up to record. Some with their heads up watching. Love 'em or hate 'em, the members of the press are usually very brave people.
 
Everyone, including the press, seems befuddled by this. So far, the news shows are just focusing on how shocked and scared the guests were, being forced to hide under their tables. Nothing at all about the suspect, except that he is in custody. Many people are suggesting that this is another staged event. One woman's comment was that when she turned on her TV and saw all the mayhem and confusion, she thought she was watching an episode of Saturday Night Live.
 
Videos/footage has come to light regarding the incident: -
Security Cam showing the shooter racing through the foyer, shooting at a guard (fortunately protected by his bullt proof vest)
  • The reaction of security on-stage dragging Vance away.
  • The collection and guiding away of the President.
  • The calmness of his press conference not long after the event
Along with them there comes the expected memes - with critical; though interesting observational comment: -
- Being somewhat acceptant of this incident - (unlike his reaction at the 'Ear hitting' rally)
- The observation of another headline that distracts from Iran, Epsteiin, Ukraine and NATO factors

- Trump turns down previous invitations to the event, then upon he one he does, it happens to coincide with his request to have his nuclear bunker style ballroom :unsure:
 
Reporters or their guests were seen swiping bottles of wine and champagne off the tables before leaving. Some even taking selfies. Some with two bottles :) 🍷
 
The least interesting news story I have heard all week, that all the sheep will pay attention to. Just another reason I rarely pay attention to mainstream news anymore.
