Should the Miss America contest continue?

It was held again yesterday and many consider it just an outdated female flesh show. I think it is silly but as a guy I have no objection to certain aspects of it. And you?

Lol! Absolutely...

Supposedly today the contest is also focusing on talent, personal achievment, goodwill bla bla bla.....

.....but I have not seen an ugly girl win yet ;)

Not anymore.
Miss Australia is the title for the winner of the Miss Australia Quest/Awards, which ran from 1954 until 2000, when the last Miss Australia was named.

We now have Miss Universe Australia which is an annual national beauty pageant that has selected Australia's representative to the Miss Universe pageant since 2004.

We also have Miss World Australia. Miss World Australia is an annual national beauty pageant to find the Australian representative for the international Miss World stage.

And then there is Miss Galaxy Australia and Miss Teen Galaxy Australia.

Shall I go on?

These sort of contests should be consigned to the bin! They are even worse if they feature young girls, which I think is abusive.

How many of these beauty contests exist now? ...Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe ....
how many more have I forgotten?
IMO ..they kinda lose their sizzle with so many going on. ... And no, I didn't watch, but heard Miss New York won.

Yes, Keep the Miss America contest going. I don't usually watch the others.

It is a BEAUTY contest and NOT based on intelligence as evidenced by what a few winners have said after being crowned.

I don't watch them but I have no objection to them. They are all adults and should know what they want. What I do object to is people putting small children in "Beauty" contests. They put gobs of makeup on the little girls and dress them up to look sexy. I know one family who have a little girl that they think is beautiful. She is a cute kid but beautiful???? No. These people are not rich. They just barely get by. They have traveled all over everywhere to put her in beauty contests. Her grandmother told me that the last time she didn't win, she cried brokenheartedly. What are these people thinking?!?!?!?

I have a relative who put her son in the contests for little boys. The winner was the one who got the most "Votes". Votes = money raised. She would ask family members to "Vote" for him. I often wondered why she didn't see that that was a racket.

I rather they end shows like big brother, the bachelor/ette, and various reality tv shows, but then, I don't watch those either, so end them don't end them, damage will or won't continue to be done depending upon how people raise their children, young women, young men and all that good stuff.

I guess 'talent' took the prize on this one, IMO she should have just stood up and sang the popular song Happy, that we hear on every commercial, etc. I was just flipping channels last night when I caught this, and moved on before I saw the winner.
