Shoulder surgery tomorrow

Warrigal

My bag is packed and I am ready to go in the morning. This time around I am having the right shoulder replaced. I expect to spend two nights in hospital if all goes smoothly.

I won't take the laptop with me so I will be offline until Wednesday arvo at the earliest.

I am an old hand at this now. In 2015 I had a hip replacement and in 2016 a knee replacement. In June this year I had my left shoulder replaced and tomorrow I will have the same for my right shoulder.

I am looking forward to regaining strength in my right arm and won't miss the pain at all.

You are a warrior, Warrigal! You have been so courageous and strong to battle through the recovery of your other surgeries, and I wish you well for this one!

I hope all goes well for you. I have yet to replace any joints but I strap on two knee braces whenever I'm going to be up and about. Take care.

Oh My Lord... what a Brave soldier you are WG.... I hope all goes well.

I'm currently suffering from rotator cuff Tendinitis in both shoulders, and that's painful enough...I can't imagine going through all the pain you've had to suffer in your joints before getting new ones and then the whole recovery period too ...and this shoulder so soon after the last one.. Take good care, I hope everything goes as smoothly as you hope..

Thanks everyone.
I consider myself truly blessed to have been born at the right time in a land where such benefits are available.
If I happen to live for another decade or more, which is quite likely, I will have set myself up for a much better old age.
I am reminded of some lines from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar which point to the need to take heed of time, and choose the moment well for every enterprise

There is a tide in the affairs of men,
Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune.
Omitted, all the voyage oftheirlife is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat.

Now is the right time for these operations because they had become major impediments to life and if I put them off, the healing may not be as easy. The tide is high and I expect plain sailing tomorrow.

Hope your surgery goes smooth Warrigal.
