Sick or glueless freaks taking selfies with the Popes body. I simply don't get i was there I did that culture. Certain lines one shouldn't cross especially when dealing with the dead who can't defend themselves.

Fury as ‘disrespectful’ mourners take selfies in front of Pope Francis’ body — with some even posting smiling snaps

Started in different thread because the current Pope thread should be about the man himself good or bad. Not the ignorant side show/public associated with the man's passing.
 

It is sick and very very disrespectful. I get that he was an important person but what surprises me the most is that it was allowed and no one stopped them. I would think there would have been safeguards in place to prevent such an outcome and turning it into a circus.

well I saw that, and there were ''guards'..or maybe ''ushers'' ' who were moving these people along who were taking selfies, but I think they were rather outnumbered. As soon as one was moved on another was taking photos...

It's all about respect, and we seem to have lost respect these days....
 
Maybe it was crazy I don't care shit. Sad. Maybe a Selfie with a Pope is important? I'm sure the Pope was a decent man!

That Photo would make my skin crawl if I was in it too.
 
I can understand the taking of selfies with the coffin of Pope Francis. For some, this is a time of great importance- a beloved Pope has passed. A selfie with the Pope's coffin proves that the person was there at this momentous time.

Probably depends a lot on whether or not the selfie shows someone smiling like an idiot and giving the V for victory sign.
 
I know people who took pictures of the deceased for people who could not be there. That's different tho, from selfies isn't it?
 
It's history in the making and people want to be memorialized with that history because it's a once in a lifetime chance to do so.
When you're a public figure you expose yourself to these things.
Is it sick to want to be a part of history? Visit a local cemetery and just think about how forgotten all these memorialized people are. So many names without a face or any distinguishing history to make them stand out.
