Signs you’re getting old!

To hub and I the best way to know we are getting older is by our thin skin, and I don't me mentally or emotionally, mean physically. Anyone have any magic potions to make your skin thicker?

Nope! I wish. Also age spots!!!!
You can get rid of age spots...going to a dematologist for a blemish removal in a month or so...will ask him about the thin skin and age spots. Lots of stuff on the market for age spot removal. My mom had got rid of hers with Tiger balm I think.

I'll keep you posted on what he says. The thin skin is a pain. When you cut yourself lightly or go out to work in the garden or whatever and nick yourself you automatically bleed. Never used to do that.

Re age spots, this is what I just found online:

Lemon juice is a perfect natural bleaching agent that can effectively fade age spots.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar = It works because it accelerates the process of skin shedding and regrowth, which of course means fresh skin that's not discolored is brought to the surface quicker. Soak a cotton ball in the vinegar, and apply it to dark spots a few times a week for several minutes before rinsing with water.

Mix a little bicarbonate of soda with enough of a 50:50 solution of hydrogen peroxide (available from pharmacies and some supermarkets) and water to form a gritty paste. Dab onto age spots, allow to dry, then rinse off and pat skin dry.

Thanks a lot. Will try the lemon juice and Apple cider vinegar! Will let you guys know what the dermatologist says, too.

He'll probably want to prescribe something. Do they get something (kickback) when they prescribe?

Age spot treatments include:
  1. Medications. Prescription bleaching creams (hydroquinone) used alone or with retinoids (tretinoin) and a mild steroid may gradually fade the spots over several months. ...
  2. Laser and intense pulsed light therapy. ...
  3. Freezing (cryotherapy). ...
  4. Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. ...
  5. Chemical peel.

I know I'm old because of finding a new pain everyday has become normal to me. I have more Doctor's phone numbers in my phone book than I have friends numbers.

That was where I went to school, it was not a museum.
Ever visit a museum where they have a re-creation of a classroom in the old days, with the seats lined up, each seat attached to the desk behind it, and a hole in the desk for the inkwell, and pens with removable points (I think they were called nibs) and blotters, because the ink always spilled, and the blackboard with chalk and erasers, and that chart showing the letters in cursive writing, and a card catalogue.... and then realized that you were looking at your own classroom?

I always wondered why older women wore scarfs, it’s the neck! I hate all the loose skin at the neck, I now have a rooster‘s wattle n a closet full of scarfs! 🤣

ROFL (at original post). 🤣🤣 My husband was hard of hearing too but never got a hearing aid. He'd have the T.V. blasting sometimes too late at night, so I'd have him watch via the Roku; the remote has an earbud jack. Another sign of aging aching body parts (just started lately but at least it's mild) and dimpling in the chin area. At least I have no wrinkles.

Think they usually want to freeze or removethe blemishes - don't know about age spots. Any scribes are usually for topical steroids - like for poison ivy.

When we work outside, cutting or hauling a lot and overdue some, we really do feel it the next day...so make it a policy to not do heavy work around the property two days in a row. Light stuff is fine, but heavy work makes the muscles talk back.

Don't mind the wrinkles...remember some old woman I saw years ago, walking down the street in a city. She didn't have any wrinkles - probably had got the best face lifts money could buy - was wearing up to date high fashion clothing, but when you watched her walk, even from the back, there was no doubt in your mind this was an old frail lady.

More than wrinkles make you look like an old person...would rather have them than the other issues...my mom use to say "if you are 80, wake up and nothing hurts, you're dead. Not 80 yet, but it still makes me laugh.

I found this below. Thin skin is a normal part of aging, nothing can be done to make it thicker. But, you can help it look better by using creams with Vitamin A (retinol). The article has a precaution about retinol.

I remember reading that Doris Day used to rub her whole body once a week with Vaseline, wore old clothes, and slept like that overnight. She covered her hands with gloves. Doing that with the hands every night might help. I did that with my body a couple of times with just plain oil, didn't shower for three days, and my skin shed like crazy and after showering it was soft like a baby (new skin). I should do it once a month and do the hands every night. Will try, but it's so messy, good thing I kept some old sweats.

I constantly forget what I've gone into a room for. At work it's quite frustrating. LOL

I have trouble seeing, hearing & arthritis has started to set in. Oh & let's not forget the grey hair.
