Sip And Stroll Alcohol and Coffee at the Supermarket--

I have been going to Lucky's Supermarket for some time now but recently more often because I really like their fresh produce--it's much more fresh than the other grocers around here. It looks a lot better, that is, and lasts longer.

I was going to the bread aisle when I noticed the counter for beer and wine and coffee--it says "Sip and Stroll" They had this back in 2019 but stopped it because of well we all know what happened since 2020. Anyways the beer and wine is back now at the average sized counter thingy they have. They don't have the stools any longer and it's just "Sip and Stroll."

I thought I'd get a beer and walk around with it. They have a plastic thing to attach to your cart to put the beer or wine or coffee in while you shop. So I got one of their "Grogger Fogger" beers on tap and ended up spending a lot more than I thought I would--I had a list with me but threw more than several more things in my cart. I even forgot to get some cheddar cheese, though. That's for another trip I guess. :sneaky: The beer had a hint of a grapefruit taste but not overwhelmingly so. It was very good.

Anyhow, do you have any grocers like this one where you are?

Here in my little burg there still trying to arrest people for drunk in car (car is parked).
You can bet they would attempt to arrest you for 'strolling drunk'. 😲
You said you spent more than you intended-wonder if it is a marketing ploy?

Well, I wasn't Drunk while strolling. In that city anyhow they are more lax in the grocery stores🤣 at least. And I was super close to home.

The larger Wegman's stores experimented with selling wine by the glass in their food court but I think that they have discontinued it in my area.

It's really not something that would appeal to me.

If I want a drink I would rather buy something to take home or go somewhere a little more upscale.

The sip & stroll idea reminds me of the supermarket dating that a few stores tried in the 80s. You would have a number on your cart and if someone was interested in you they would leave a note with your number at the customer service desk.

Hmmm....I've never heard of this, I'm certainly not a teetotaler, but I don't think this appeals to me.....I'd be trying to get my groceries bought and get out of there as quickly and safely as possible....I associate having a glass of wine with relaxing and grocery shopping is not a relaxing experience to me....but it would not bother me if someone else wants to do this.
