Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock KBE

The Birds movie were like cop jobs. Lots of bordom punctuated by moments of mind crippling terror. The school yard scene bothered me as much as the doctors office scene in the original Blob movie. Take care.

I wonder how many British people on here know this fact..........As WW2 was ending and the concentration camps were being discovered, the UK Government sent Hitchcock and a film crew to Europe to film it all. He had complete control of what he shot, and where he shot it.

He was also involved in setting up the physical court room for the Nuremberg trials of the Nazi leadership. He planned where the cameras would be placed, how the microphones would be controlled, and how the translators would hear the testimony, and the questions being asked by the Prosecutors, in FOUR languages at the same time. The film archive of the Nuremberg trials contains over three million feet of black and white 16 mm film, that was shot during the trials. Hitchcock was a very odd man, to say the least. JimB.

That's interesting Jim. I've never heard of this before.

I haven't watched it in years, but North by Northwest seemed like a powerful film, at least back then, and I considered it in my top fives for years. The Birds and Psycho were good, but they were hyped so much that I felt let down when I saw them, but still good movies. I loved his cameo appearances. Those were always highlights of the films.

For all of his personal quirks ( and he had dozens of them ) Hitchcock WAS a master film maker. He knew that future generations would NEED to be shown the wickedness of the Nazis, over and over again. That is why he spent so much time on the physical setting of the Nuremberg court room. Some body on here questioned why I said that the court operated in 4 languages ? English, French, Russian and of course GERMAN. The later trial of Adolf Eichman in Isreal borrowed heavily from the Nazi trials in Germany, in terms of both format and physical look. JImB.
