Anyone who has a gun in their house IS an idiot, especially if they have children. Tell me something: If an armed intruder breaks into your house in the middle of the night, are you going to say, "Wait a minute, I have to go to my lock box, find the key and get my firearm out. Be back in sec." Or, if they're just lurking around in your yard, do you open the window and blow them away instead of calling the police? Either way, you lose. You can get shot and killed, or you can shoot and kill another human being. This is not common sense at all.

Well, I can see the point as to if no one had any guns of any kind then the government could just run roughshod over the citizenry and given they had such opportunity, I'd not put it past them doing so. But, again, the government also has far more weaponry that is more powerful and plentiful than what "Joe" or "Bob" keep in their homes. Rifles in the hands of level headed citizens, I don't see as all bad, maybe an exaggerated necessity. And automatics, no real need for those in civilian hands, I agree.
If that happened here, that is exactly what would happen!

Uh, no, intelligent people don't have a lock box that uses a key. Intelligent people plan ahead. My lock box takes less than 1 second to open in complete darkness & I'm never more than 2 seconds from one.
Intelligent people familiarize themselves with the laws governing the use of deadly force. Such laws prohibit shooting a trespasser in one's yard.
I have called the police when I encountered a trespasser. If someone breaks in, they're no longer a trespasser; they are a threat to me & my family & I will do whatever I can to protect myself & my loved ones. And that includes using deadly force if I have to.
If you're not willing to do that, that's OK with me. But I wouldn't call anyone an idiot because they weren't willing to kill another human being if they had to. Obviously you would - which makes YOU the idiot.

These gun safes don’t look like they, along with the firearms they contain, wouldn’t be difficult to steal in a burglary. And once they were, I’m sure that the criminals who found a way into wherever they were kept could easily find a way to remove the guns at their leisure. Then where do you think those stolen guns are headed? My guess is to create more mayhem.

The safe shown in your linked article also looks even easier to steal, gun intact, that those in the pictures you posted. And once stolen, that gun isn’t likely to be used for anything honest. Nice try but I’m not wrong in this instance.

So, you can find and put the key in the lock of your box, in complete darkness in one second and your gun safe, also in complete darkness, is never more that 2 seconds from where you are in your home? No offense but your home sounds extremely small for you and a family if you’re only ever 2 seconds from a locked gun inside of its confines.
I consider myself intelligent yet I have no ideas about the laws governing the use of deadly force in any of the 50 states, nor the District of Columbia and also not of any US Territories or possessions. Do you know all of these should you travel?
How much family do you have and are they as gun savvy as you feel you are? They might mistakenly shoot you or someone else otherwise. And just how often have you encountered trespassers or had someone break in? Do you lie in bed at night, praying for the chance to use your deadly force options?

Your attitude is typical of many Americans. I can't imagine being so paranoid that I feel it's necessary to "plan ahead" and purchase a gun. I'd love to know how many home invasions there are in the U.S. Do they happen on a daily basis? Has it happened to anyone you know? Is it a real threat or a perceived threat? If you have this much fear, why not install an alarm system and/or get a large dog? There are other alternatives for protection that don't involve blowing someone's brains out. Also, please don't call me an idiot. I'm actually very intelligent.
There is no way to guarantee 100% that a gun can't be stolen, no matter how secure it is; just as there is no way to guarantee that a car can't be stolen & cause death, regardless of how many high-tech security devices are on it.
And there is no way to ensure that any device can't be used to kill - including fertilizer & diesel fuel used by Tim McVeigh to kill 186 people in less than 1` second.
Or planes used to kill 3,000 people on 9-11.

Here are some stats for you to chew on. According to this report, 75% of burglaries in the U.S. happen when no one is home. The majority happen during the day. So, the chances of someone breaking into your home when you are there, are extremely low. Think about it logically: if you wanted to be a successful burglar, wouldn't you wait until the house is empty before breaking in? I think you would. Best time to get into his place is when he’s busy taking neighbors and friends to get treated for COVID as he’s mentioned doing in the past. He kind of makes himself sound like he’s heroic. Maybe he is but he says a lot of other things that just don’t add up for me. Maybe my obstacles to common sense are barring my way, much to his amusement. I wish he was heroic enough to just admit he has no answers. It’s okay to crave attention but there are better ways to get it. Feeling irrelevant can make a person do funny things I guess.

I'll try to answer some of them, but just the stats for my own relatively small town (population slightly under 9,000) because I don't know the stats for the whole country. I don't have a gun... let me just get that said. But I am hellishly proud to be an American and be afforded the right to bear arms as stated in my constitution. Anyhow, your questions... yes, my town has many home invasions... 37% more now than in 2019. Old ladies in their beds get raped. Homeowners get hacked to death. My "little" and "safe" town saw 11 murders in 2022. Do I personally know anyone who's had a home invasion? Crap, yes. Do I know anyone who was killed in one? If you visit the area sometime, I'll take you to his gravesite. I will never own a gun, but if the time comes when the government takes that right away for those who want to protect their home and family with them, we are going to be in sorry shape. (ADDING: I'm appalled at the news story of the 6 year old, of course, and his parents... I'm just stating my feelings on the overall issue.)
