Smells that Annoy.

Are there any smells that really annoy you?

The one that I don't like is the smell of spray
deodorant, I know that they start out smelling
of flowers or the sea or woodland, but that
usually wears of after a short time and the
smell that is left afterwards really annoys me,
I don't know why.

Mike.

I agree..some women wear so much perfume it is like a force field..........

If you wash..you don't smell...

I agree Falcon, we had a pig farm about 1/4 of a mile away as the crow flies and for years all summer if the wind was in the wrong direction the smell of pig muck was repulsive. Thank goodness there are no pigs on the farm any more and we have clean air all year.

Almost as bad as the pig farm was the chicken farm we lived next to for a year - when the wind shifted it was all we could do to breathe. Holly, I know how you feel ...

Cigarette smoke bothers me. There are still people who will smoke a few feet from
a store entrance and it smells very strong to folks with respiratory problems.
I never smoked but have damaged lungs anyway.

I also do not like to smell strong perfume.

I use to dump my female dates when she has that heavy perfume smell.I always get a BIG headache once they enter the car.

"Sorry,my Mom just called me and I gotta go home ....byeee"

Davey, Wouldn't it be kinder if you just told her that heavy perfume had a bad effect on you. That it gave you a headache. Instead you just leave her wondering what she did wrong.
My mom lost her sense of smell and I had to tell her that her perfume was too strong. She didn't realize her ability to smell was leaving her. :hide:

Nothing worse than pig you know what.
I use to get sick from certain chemicals in chemistry while in high school.

Not exactly 'annoy', but being around someone who gets sick to their stomach ...

There's a shop here, Kirkland's, where I love to browse, but I swear that they have every kind of potpourri and scented plug-in "freshener" going all at the same time. More than five minutes in there gives me a crashing headache. I browse five minutes at a time, and if I see something I want to buy, have to leave the store long enough to breathe for a while, then go back to make a purchase. I'm not the only one who has noticed it because I've complained and heard other customers complain, too.

It doesn't seem that TPTB at Kirkland's paid attention in the marketing class that taught giving the customer what they want.

Im the kindest type when it comes to women,Ill bend over backwards to make them happy.
But a women with heavy perfume usage should know better, its the same as putting on too much make up(also a turn off),fussing with her hair all the time, yapping all night long about her kids/family.....who needs that.
I could never understand why a women ,before a date, has to spend hours before a mirror just to please her date.
My saying has always been "what you see is what you get".

i used to wear scented oil. One day I went with my ex boyfriend to his doctor's visit. She asked me what I was wearing. After I told her, she informed me that others like my honey who suffered with COPD couldn't handle the smell. I haven't worn anything since. Im grateful to that doctor to this day.

Cigarette and cigar smoke......can't stand it and avoid it as much as possible.
I want to add this: I remember replying to a Thread (different website) about "making friends". When I said "wife and I don't smoke and don't make friends with those that smoke" another forum member said, "do you know how many people you are missing making friends with b/c you don't like smoking?". Another forum member said "it should be left up to them who they want to make friends with!" I went on to explain that my wife has asthma, but that didn't seem to phase some of the smokers on the Thread.
Bathroom cleaning chemicals......have my wife turn on the fan in the bathroom and shut the door when she is done cleaning.
Fresh tar/paving
Indian curry......can't stand it!
Smell of livestock still doesn't bother me. Would rather smell cattle than hogs.
Very sensitive to forest fire smoke in the air.

Really old ladies that smell like they have jumped into an entire barrel of perfume...worst is when they are in a café sitting close to you. I have had two occasions when I asked to move to another area (as did several other people)..
