Smooth or Crunchy Peanut Butter

Horrors. Opened a new jar of peanut butter and discovered I accidently purchased creamy instead of my usual crunchy.
This will not do. Luckily Im visiting the store Friday and can purchase some real peanut butter.

So whats your preference. Obviously mine is crunchy. I will be using that creamy for mouse bait. :D
Same here-crunchy is best!

I like both. At most I eat a tablespoon of it every other week. DH eats it more frequently, and it's a good staple to have around for a quick snack for the grandkids.

"Natural" peanut butter textures and flavors turn us off. We've tried several, Trader Joe's included. No joy.

Peanut butter is one of the few instances where I've accepted that some highly processed foods taste a lot better to us than less processed versions. I buy Skippy or Jif - whichever Costco has on sale. Since it was on sale about a month ago, right now there's at least a year's supply in my pantry.

I used to always buy chunky, but now I'm in to creamy.
Winco has a machine where you can grind your own peanut butter. I've done that w/the almond butter they offer, but never the peanuts.

@RadishRose, why the surprise emoticon? Is it because I have a year's worth in my backup pantry or because I (who try to eat as few processed foods as possible) am openly embracing highly processed peanut butter?

If it's the latter, I should say it's a surprise to me, too. I've really, really tried to like less processed versions, but they just don't float my boat.

The former.

Now that you mention it, the latter, too. But, you eat so wisely most of the time, what's a little processed PB?

Then too, maybe a year's worth of PB is like 4 jars. :D

I'm reminded now of back in my 20's I used to make grilled cheese sandwiches with PB and bacon!

I wished I liked it but I don't.
One of my neighbors invited me for coffee one morning, not too long ago. For the occasion, she had baked some PB cookies. When she presented it to me, I had to be impolite and not eat one. I felt really bad but just the smell of it was making me sick. I never got invited back! (even though I invited her for coffee a little while after and offered her chocolate chip cookies with her coffee!)

Where does one get such a tool??
We were given ours by a friend, but they're available online (e.g., Amazon). Search for "peanut butter mixer". A table knife or spoon will work, but the tool is far less messy.

Does keeping it upside down mix the oil with the peanut butter?

No

Regarding the OP, we buy Teddie Super Crunchy. Only ingredient is peanuts (plus salt or no-salt).

This thread made me hungry for an Emody Sandwich. That's Crispy Bacon and Peanut Butter on a butter pan toasted roll. Mmmmm, yummy... Haven't had one those for ages. It's named after guy who used to play keyboards in the band, who used to set off motel room smoke alarms making bacon and pan toast with an electric skillet.

Is peanut butter popular in Britain?

The reason I ask is because I oncecread that it was unpopular when first introduced over there.

And do you use it?
It's not really very poplar, not on the scale or anywhere near the scale of the USA..some people like it, so there's like 2 or 3 brands on sale in the supermarket, and on the shelves take up the space inbetween jam, marmalde, Nuttella etc but otherwise..it's not in everyone's basket by any means.. In fact I know of no other country where it's as popular as the US...

No I don't eat it, in fact I cannot stand the smell.... I have a jar in the frdige and it's used when necessary, to kill mice... apparently they love it, so I can only conclude that American people are direct decendants of Mice...:ROFLMAO:

Made to the store. We have PB. Made a PB and banana sandwich on toast for lunch. Yay!
I have to limit my intake of PB to one serving a day since I need to diet. If Im only getting a limited amount it needs to be the good stuff. Ive tried those natural ones and the expensive ones but my fav is my store brand. Might have to try that super chunk tho.

I like the smooth, rather than the chunky. Reading the post above mirrors my dislike of tea (too bitter). I have my wife mix it with my morning oatmeal. And yes I've been known to spoon it directly from the jar. When I was stationed in Germany there was a secretary at the EM club we cleaned that had a PB & banana on toast every morn. Never got to like that combo.
