snow! yay or nay?

My rule is: if I can't look out the window and see palm trees, then I am too far north.

I left the snow shovel behind when we moved in 1972 and have not missed it yet.

Ahhhhh snow...can't live without it. No bugs, no humidity, comfortable shoes (as opposed to sandals), it is one of 4 seasons here. Now that I am retired I like it even more as I don't need to slog to the GO train station when the snow is so deep I can't get my car out. Shoveling is go exercise.

Here it's more likely to be Bread , Milk, & beer... or Bread, Milk & Loo rolls
was just about to ask "what are loo rolls? when i realized... that's TP, right! when NJ forecasts are calling for mandatory death and destruction, i run a mental checklist. TP is in top 5. coffee and at least half & half... thought for the amount of time we've ever been cabin-bound... i could do hot tea, i don't use a lot of sugar, but have back-up sweeteners,,, raw sugar, honey, agave syrup, etc. i can't remember the last time when i really did need eggs or bread or milk.
BEER is a given! some GOOD "junk food is essential" i have a can of jumbo lump crab meat in fridge right now that could become a heap of mini crab-cakes.

We've moved around a lot and I have missed the cold weather and especially snow. We finally were able to retire so we packed up and moved to MAINE! We arrived at midnight on December first. It snowed a week later and kept snowing until May! LOVED IT!!! We have a plow guy for the driveway and DH & I can shovel the patio and steps but our neighbors sometime do it for us before we wake up! When we extended the living room with sliders and sidelights the contractor talked us in to a small deck and a few stairs. I made sure the stairs were wide enough so we could sit and watch it snow without railings in the way. The carpenter just rolled his eyes but we have really enjoyed the view!!

We spent a couple of years on the west coast of Scotland. I was disappointed there wasn't more snow but we had 47 steps to the front door so it would have been treacherous! We miss Scotland too :cautious:

In my younger years i loved snow.
NOW
I've taken a real hate for snow.
Don't like watching it.......don't like walking in it.......don't like shoveling it.
There, i think i've expressed my 2 cents worth.

No snow in the tropics of South Texas. It has snowed twice in the 22 years we've lived here. Second time we missed it as we were in my hometown.

We heard it was lovely but melted quickly.

I am so jealous of all the snow!

We finally had a smattering of snow today, but not much to crow about at all. None since just before Christmas and that wasn't very bad at all. I love the beauty of snow and the sound of silence that accompanies it. Here in New Jersey, we will get warnings galore and they are a laugher. I do miss our old fashioned winters, but as construction continues and the population grows with more vehicles on our roadways, well, not anymore.

Just thought an illustration might help...

Since I retired, I have had less of an issue with snow. Now that I am in an apartment, and do not have to deal with shoveling, I am in heaven. Especially when I can go days without HAVING to go out. Plus, I can interact (at a distance) with neighbors in the comfort of our building.

We seldom get snow, but tonight is supposed to be the night! Actually, there are flurries being reported around town but none here yet that I have seen. But the mountains that surround us are supposed to get 12-15 inches tonight,so I`m guessing we will get some too.

That being said, that`s about all the snow I like. We are "considering" an out of state move, and it would probably involve a little more snow. Wel,not probably-it would for sure involve snow. Hubby isn`t too sure about it.....

I like the relationship I have with snow here in California. It's available to drive to from about November through March or later depending on the snow year.

I prefer visiting it as opposed to it visiting me.

I grew up on Long Island and in my entire school career never even once had a snow day.

If we turned on the radio, they would be announcing half the schools in New Joisey were closed.

As a kid I hated a snow storms coming.... It meant I had to get up an hour early and help my mother put chains on the school bus.
It blows my mind around here... they just say snow and everything closes
