Friday, I finally, after an 8 year delay, I had my left knee replaced.
The surgery went well, and even though I'm only two day out, I feel pretty good. Walking laps around the house with my walker.
Pain medication wise, I'm supposed to take it every 6 hours, but it's really worked out to around every 8 hours.
I learned a really fast lesson about the ice bath, though. I took it off Saturday in order to unwrap all the ace bandages, like I was told to do. However, I didn't put it back on, then I fell asleep for a couple hours. Good Lord! My knee was so swollen I couldn't bend it or straighten it at all.
Needless to say, it's been on ever since.
Anyway, something I wanted to share with everyone that I thought was pretty neat:
The last thing they had me do before my surgery was mark which knee I was getting done. Instead of just making a mark, I wrote 'Thanks, Dr. Brady'.
Imagine my surprise when I unwrapped my knee on Saturday afternoon, and discovered he wrote back 'You're welcome. You needed it D.M.B.'
