Sobering Realization I Just Saw... Seems Impossible

I was still a teenager. I'm not going to let a number make me feel like a fossil now.
:giggle:
Good thinking chic: I was having morning coffee with 2 young ladies and their parents this morning. The parents and I have all turned 80 and one of the girls asked me "What is it like to be 80?". I told her the secret to old age is to always "Think Young" and you'll stay young. They thought that was a great saying. And of course, good health helps as well, and always be active.

Bet you had a heck of a time taking those home every night. :p

I was more referring to the personal computer that's ubiquitous today. In 1958, Bill Gates didn't even have the dream to have one in every house yet.
LOL. Bill Gates was barely out of diapers in 1958. Howzat for an image?

I was '75. I remember thinking when I was a teen that being out of school for 50 years was so bizarre... ugh... and now here we are. Will you be having a reunion to attend, @Eupher ? I won't be getting anywhere NEAR mine next year.
No, I don't think so. I know that a reunion is being planned, but traveling to get there and the logistics needed doesn't lend itself well. I never stayed in that area (suburb of Detroit) very long after HS either.

I won a hundred bucks on that fight. For me a lot of money. Seems like yesterday.
And what a fight that was. It showed the genius of M. Ali. After Foreman had previously annihilated Joe Frazier, I thought Foreman would completely throttle Ali. But Ali invented the "rope-a-dope", which caused Foreman to wear himself out. Then Ali was able to knock him out. I can't imagine any other fighter that would have thought up the plan, and then to patiently carry it out.

While remembering events from 50 years ago is sobering and perhaps horrifying, there are consolations from being that old, and one might even say that we have certain “superpowers”…like, if the air conditioning goes out, we know that we can function without it!

The “Woodstock Generation” used to say, “don’t trust anyone over 30!” Today, I regard anyone under 30 as a young-‘un, a relative kid… 👦

I'm not so sure about that. :giggle: The power went out here for a while yesterday and it was over 90 degrees. Suddenly the whole house got so quiet that it was very unnerving. Nothing running... nothing humming... nothing buzzing 'cept my tinnitus. 🤭 Way creepy!

We had that happen a few weeks ago for 24 hours -- I had to throw food away.
The quiet made me realize just how much racket our darn refrigerator makes! Can't they do something about that?

There isn't a number of years that can go by which really scares me. I know we'll be dust in the end but I'm not yet sure what that will be like. There was a time when I thought I've still got half my life ahead of me or quarter of it. Actuarily I'm playing with house money. We're all winners. Lets celebrate!

Well not a job but a scholarship at $9,600 per year for two years.

What did you do with that I wonder. Were you already in college or was that your ticket to start?
