solve this math puzzle

Take four (4) 9's only, put them in a "mathematical equation" to equal 100: 9 9 9 9

Can we use powers of 9, as in 9 squared, or 9 raised to the power of zero?

If so I submit 9, plus 9, plus 9 squared, plus 9 raised to power zero = 9 + 9 + 81 + 1 = 100
