Some Colleges Like USC Require Instrusive Sexual History Questions Before Registration

University of Southern California and others now require their students to complete sexual history questions prior to registration. At USC if it is not completed registration will be put on hold.

Supposedly part of training about sexual assault, abuse, rape etc. Based on Title IX requires which have been mostly used to bring women's college athletics into parity with men's sport. But they say the law is much more comprehensive than that. They also claim if Title IX requirements are not met they lose federal funding. The Department of Education is checking to see if the questions actually fall under Title IX requirements.

If they want to train or teach students that no means no e or what defines rape or an assault that is one thing but there is no need for a lot of private information period. If the training becomes too much of an ordeal the students will lie or go through the motions as they already do with a lot of college course work.

I fail to understand why this is pertinent information to being accepted to a college? I will bet that 99% of the applicants are NOT sexually active.. hahahahahaha

Some may find a comprehensive report since entering puberty might help USC, though the reports might be quite lengthy but could make for some interesting reading...

USC just backed off from those questions which will be removed from the training.

How did they even get there in the first place-who thought it was a good idea. College official said they were simply using standardized training & questions used across the country. Like sheep in a herd.

At NYU your sexual history wasn't part of registration - it was part of your thesis.

With very extensive research I bet.

One of the issues that need to be brought up here is that students or anyone for that matter have to realize that anytime they fill out a form, survey, application or anything requiring personal information is that the information could and probably will be stored, used, hacked, stolen or given away in the future. Just like a criminal suspect's rights-'anything you say can and will be used against you'. They'll be going through divorce proceedings one day a lawyer might very well get a subpoena that survey. To make matters worse many people lie on survey's to give the questioner a answer they think they want to here or lie to show themselves in a very positive light, must say lying is an individual consequence to deal with.

Where I went to college, it was part of "did you go to the Kappa Nu party Saturday night?"

LOL!

I never got into the whole frat / sorority thing, but then I was always a loner.

And what better hunting ground for a young wolf than NYC? :devilish:
