Some scribes say this was one of the worse songs of the 70s

Minnie Riperton sang Lovin’ You in 1975.
Personally I loved this song and I especially loved Minnie’s delivery of it.
Her voice demanded my attention, the same way Kate Bush did.
She stood out from the crowd
Lovin’ You - Minnie Riperton

Minnie Riperton's life ended at just 31 years old (breast cancer). I loved this song when I first heard it and still love it. The highs and lows of her voice are perfect, I think.

I love that song this was in the top 10 when I was pregnant with my Daughter..

I've never heard anyone say bad about this song... but a song I like which was in the charts at the same time as Minnie... which loads of people say they hate ( altho' god knows lots must have bought it, for it to be in the top 10) ...was this song

My ex husband used to play this on the juke box in the pub at the time...

I always liked Minnie Riperton. The song Loving You is a tribute to her daughter Maya Rudolph of SNL, which was composed for her when she was a baby. She was seven years old when her mother died. Minnie Riperton is on the short list of singers with a five-octave range.

Personally I like all songs Paul Anka sang. A fine crooner indeed. I reckon there are many songs people say they dislike but privately they dance away to in the privacy of their lounge rooms.
Same as Plastic Betrand's 1977 hit, - Ca plane pour moi (It's Great For Me) which sold over 900,000 copies. Try and find someone who admits they like it. :)

I recently learned this; Ms. Rudolph says if you listen closely to the song, you can hear Ms. Ripperton whispering, "Maya Maya" at the end of the song. And am enjoying Ms. Rudolph in the series Loot, BTW; it's on AppleTV+.

A musician friend of mine years ago introduced me to this song. I liked it right away How can you not?

Come to think of it, Melanie is pretty much a disaster. She's probably what made men come up with the phrase (now a popular abbreviation on the internet)...WTF?
