Some Social Security Payments Will Be Delayed In September (??)

I came across this article in one of my news feeds. It lists a delayed payment schedule for September because of when Labor Day falls. I don't remember this happening in previous years, but then again, I always get my deposit the fourth week anyway. Maybe my brain isn't functioning properly to day (I'm sleep deprived) but the way the article is written seems a bit confusing to me.

Can you recall getting your SS later than usual in the past?

My check comes on the 3rd of the month, however, since I have direct deposit , it is always there’re a few days early. If the 3rd comes on a weekend, then it always arrives before the weekend. Mine has been pending at my bank the last 2 days and now deposited this morning. I really like that the direct deposit brings it early. I know that it is the same no matter which day, but it just seems better to get the money deposited earlier.

I don’t understand this. Did they ditch the computers and go back to hand writing the checks?

I looked at the article. Nothing has changed for me that I can see.
