Interesting day.

My shingles are easing off about the time that Ron discovered he has them and they’re ramping up. 😭

My sweet step-daughter who has cancer just realized that her breasts will be gone (radical mastectomy) at the time she’s going to be a maid of honor for her best friend and her dress is low cut. 😭

My daughter is going out of town for a fun vacay with her hubs and kids for the first time sinc Covid shut everything down, and she’s stressing big time over what she’s going to do with all her critters (accumulated since Covid) while she’s gone. 😱

My client is about to move into her new place and she’s panicking because not all the bathroom fixtures match because of supply chain issues. 🫤

One of my sons is eschewing typical rent/living situations and has bought an RV which he’s refurbishing, and has discovered that the ac doesn’t work and we’re moving into the warm season. 🫣

Ron bought an evergreen clematis for our iron arch and realized that his plan for planting it in a pot next to the arch will NOT work. 😲

How’s your day going?

Sorry to hear that, my wife had shingles I know how painful it can be. Hope it passes quickly. Did you get the vaccine? I just got my first a few days ago.

Even sorrier to hear that, hope they get it all!

That's not a good day for sure. So sorry about your SD, that truly sucks. Yesterday I had my neighbor come over and tell me she was going to kill my dog. That conversation did not go well. She's lived there about 20 yrs, and has managed to alienate pretty much everyone in the canyon. Now it was my bad to let the dog wander off. I had been pressure washing some garage doors, and she took a hike. She's been really good about sticking around, and checks back to make sure I haven't gone anywhere every ten minutes or so. Well it seems she saw the dog near her chicken coop and saw some loose feathers, but no dead chicken.

Well, within a few minutes of Monica's arrival (aforementioned neighIbor) Li'l Bit trots up, and I call her over and check her head and mouth, no blood, no feathers. Now Li'l bit notices Monica, and goes into a very menacing growl. I calm the dog down, but I'm getting incrementally less calm, as she' s continuing on about killing my dog. I attempt to explain to her that it is against the law to shoot my dog, to no effect. Now I have never been anything but friendly toward this woman.

Have helped her out many times, unloaded and stacked her large round hay bales, fixed her septic system, baby sat her dogs, and it's not like this is an unsolvable issue. I rarely get angry anymore, just a bad way to go, but I just lost it, and said "what the hell is wrong with you. What kind of human being are you that you want to kill my dog over the possible death of a chicken. I'll buy you a f***ing chicken". More tirade from her. Me "You shoot my dog, I just might shoot you", end of conversation.
So this morning I called her and got a recording. I left her a message saying I was calling to appoligize, and that I was way out of bounds, and if her chicken doesn't appear I would be more than happy to replace it. I doubt I will hear back from her, and that is just fine with me. New protocols in place for the dog.

Not a good week for me. Tuesday we had a major snow storm that closed all the roads and businesses. It also took down many trees which landed on the surrounding power lines. It is the first time since I moved here that we had no power. My apartment did not get too cold but I was concerned about the refrigerator and my food. Couldn't use the elevator all day so my day was ruined when I woke up yesterday to find the elevator is closed due to repairs. I cannot use the stairs at all. Neither can many others. I had some important things going on today and tomorrow that I needed to use the elevator. I am glad it will be fixed just wish it wasn't this week.

I would probably reacted the same as you! Sounds like she needed a rude awakening!

When dogs got out of their yard and attacked a goat where I used to stable my horse, animal control took the dogs and put one of them down.

You are probably not correct about the law, this is the law that I found when googling:

The livestock owners may legally kill the marauding dogs, and they won't be liable if the dog owners sue them.
Dog owners are financially responsible for the damage their dogs cause.

Killing Predator Dogs

Many U.S. states have laws—which may go back over a hundred years—allowing farmers, ranchers, and others to kill dogs that are chasing, harassing, or attacking their livestock. Even without these statutes, however, it's long been a common-law rule that people may kill dogs when it's necessary to protect their property, including livestock. (See, for instance, Brauer v. English, 21 Mo. App. 490 (1886).)

A farmer or rancher usually doesn't have to wait until a dog has sunk its teeth into a calf or lamb. Most laws allow killing a dog that is chasing, "worrying," or preparing to attack livestock. However, simply running through a field where there are cows or sheep is probably not enough (see Trautman v. Day, 273 N.W.2d 712 (N.D. 1979)). Landowners usually don't have the right to kill dogs just for trespassing.

Also, the dog must be caught in the act of chasing or hurting livestock. In Texas, for instance, the law allows people to kill animals discovered in the act of injuring livestock or damaging crops, but the landowner must kill the predatory animals at the time of that discovery (Tex. Pen. Code § 42.092). As one court put it long ago, "It is not the dog's predatory habits, nor his past transgressions, nor his reputation, however bad, but the doctrine of self-defense, whether of person or property, that gives the right to kill." (State v. Smith, 72 S.E. 321 (N.C. 1911).)

Hunting Down Fleeing Dogs

The laws in some states clearly prohibit hunting down a predatory dog that has left the farmer's property. In Illinois, a court ruled that a sheep farmer wasn't protected under that state's law when he followed a dog back to its owner's home and shot it there, an hour after the dog had killed some of his sheep (People v. Pope, 383 N.E.2d 278 (Ill. Ct. App. 1978)).

In other states, however, courts have said the law allows farmers to pursue and kill predator dogs, even though the danger has passed. For example, the Kansas Supreme Court said that, "within a reasonable time" after the dog harassed livestock and fled the property, a farmer could chase and shoot it (McDonald v. Bauman, 433 P.2d 437 (Kan. 1967)). In Washington, the law specifically allows a livestock owner to kill a dog found running loose after a previous episode of harassing the livestock, as long as the dog's owner was notified about the earlier incident (Wash. Rev. Code § 16.08.020).

What About Poison?

Usually, it's illegal to poison animals on purpose. But states may make exceptions when it comes to predatory animals. In California, for instance, landowners may put out poison on their own property to control livestock-killing dogs, as long as they post conspicuous warning signs about the poison (Ca. Penal Code § 596).

Yeah. She didn't have breast reconstruction at the time of the mastectomy?
She hasn’t had the mastectomy yet. She’s still getting chemo. She has one more treatment to go, then she has to wait several weeks to regain her strength before she has the surgery. Even then she won’t get the full reconstruction at that time. It’s a gradual process. They have devices that slowly stretch the skin and tissue to ultimately accommodate the implants.

Here she is trying the dress on.

Your post reminds me to be grateful for everything in my life when I see this poor girl suffering like this. So cruel.

She looks stunning. I don't think this is a problem.

I would not be helping her out anymore with her chores or baby sitting her pets. And would not apologize for something my dog did not do. But thats just me and my take on things.

How’s your day going?

very sorry about all the problems. In my experience, this stuff comes in waves. You can a bad of wave of crisis...it slowly fades away and some sun shines through.

Dental surgery yesterday. In a huge bucket of pain and misery.

take care....

Every state is different. Things for a rancher are not the same for a homeowner. She would have to contact county animal control and file a complaint, and have them mediate. If I haven't heard from them by now, I doubt I will. I have changed things up with the dog. Unless I am with her she is on a long cable, well secured. She seems to be getting used to it. Will probably fence off the backyard this summer for her. Kind of hard to fence the hole 30 acres. I admitted I was at fault, it was my hope that she would stay on the property like my old dog, but that hasn't worked out.

My day is not as dramatic and serious as Ronni's. I have a 10 AM Dr. appointment. I slept through the 7:30 alarm. I dropped my dental bridge and chipped it. I dropped the coffee can. After I cleaned that up, the ice-cold water jug had condensation from sitting there., so, of course, I dropped it. Cleaned that up. But the hand vac was clogged from cleaning the coffee, stopped working. Had to unclog that. Ran around showering and getting dressed in a hurry. Got to the Dr.'s, and "didn't you get the call rescheduling the appointment?'

Ronni, what an interesting combination of topics, all in one question! Here are my suggestions:

1. My sympathies over the shingles. How strange that you both got it at about the same time. Is it contagious? I (fortunately) know nothing about this illness, except that it's supposed to be miserable, from what I hear.

2. If your stepdaughter is concerned about the dress, I would suggest buying another one with a higher-cut neckline, just in case. I know formal dresses can be expensive, but sometimes you can find a beautiful one at a surprisingly low price. (The dress in the picture is lovely, but it's just a dress. Not worth anguishing over.)

When the time comes, she can decide which one looks better.

3. About your daughter and the "critters," without knowing what the critters are, it's hard to answer this one, but if they are the usual dog-and-cat variety, she has a choice of boarding kennels or asking a kind neighbor or friend to stop by every day to feed them and look after them. If they are pet crocodiles, well...

4. About your client and the non-matching bathroom, I would tell her that I hope this is the worst problem she ever has.

5. Can't an A/C unit be fixed or replaced? Doesn't sound like an unsolvable problem.

6. I wouldn't waste time worrying over a botanical question. From my (very limited) understanding, clemantis is hard to grow.

And for Geezer George and the dog/chicken issue, what a wonderful plot for a TV sitcom!

It does come in waves. My youngest daughter had her first round of chemo Tuesday and is so sick. She is trying to go into work and her employer is not being too nice about her having to be off for the chemo. It will be 3 weeks until she goes in for the second round and they told her the first 5 days after the first round is the worst so I hope that is true. Maybe she will feel better after this weekend! If you are a praying person please say one for her. Thanks and I appreciate it.

If the other bridesmaids are wearing the same dress, your SD could put lift the straps and add a bit of lace-like or flesh coloured material in the front. It’s really an impossible design to wear with a bra at the best of times.

Oh bless her heart, how can some people be so cruel to other people who are going through hell, and in your daughters' case the fight for her life!! Well let's hope her employer never has the same affliction happen to them...

...I wish your daughter everything she's wishing for herself..Terry, may she win this battle, despite her employers bad behaviour towards her ... 🤗

Lol. You’re not far off!

Snakes (6, 2 pregnant)

There are also frogs, a bearded dragon, dogs, cats, a gecko, a bird, fish…..Have I missed anything? 😂

I’m going to house sit for a week. That’ll solve all the problems at once.

As they say, when it rains, it pours. Your DIL is rocking that bald head...good for her! Wishing her the best during her treatment, surgery and for the prognosis. Is the wedding before or after her surgery? If after perhaps the dress maker could add a peplum if the breast area is going to be problematic. Or perhaps she can wear a pretty chiffon scarf, barely transparent, that drapes over the area.
