Spam emails

Lately, I've been getting emails repeatedly from the same sources. Ace Hardware and T-Mobile are two of the biggest offenders. They always congratulate me on winning some prize, or thank me for buying something. I have never patronized either of those.

They usually have two choices to click on at the bottom: Unsubscribe, or Report as Spam. I always click on one or the other, and it makes no difference at all. I think those are just fake buttons to push, to make them look legit. Probably Ace Hardware and T-Mobile have nothing to do with these messages, either. Some crook is just appropriating their names, probably a kind of identity theft. My email is cluttered enough; I don't need any more junk to keep deleting!

Anyone else getting these?

Actually, the best thing to do is not click any link in a suspected spam email. I use Yahoo and Gmail and they both have options to report spam directly to their service. If you click a link in a spam email, chances are good that, as you suspect, the spammers are now aware that yours is a "live" email address and they can then spam you more, sell your address or both. Look for a link or contact your email provider asking how to report spam. They should be able to help you cut down on the amount received if not all. Usually those links are at the top of the email form, just above the title of the current email you're viewing.

Yes, nuisances...how 'bout...Block sender.
Good Luck,🤗
If you right click on the sender, you’ll see that they’re coming from a variety of addresses. No point wasting your time blocking them. Just delete.

Mine show up in Junk Mail. They’ll be deleted automatically after 30 days. It’s frustrating that real mail will often end in Junk so I have to sort through all the garbage.

use Proton mail or other secure email
never use your private address for any website, subscription or social security

NEVER allow your email address to appear on any, website, social media, profile

Check every privacy option to minimize exposure

Some email servers have AI or other spam/ reputation blockers, filters.

Bon chance

Spam is no problem with me. My problem is spammers calling me up again. 2 of them keep calling, even though I never answer their calls. I guess they keep calling each number until someone finally answers.

They're actually not from them. Those are spammers who got a mailing list and use various companies. You respond once, you're going to be besiged with spam.

I have yahoo and Gmail. But yahoo filter seems to do pretty good.

My email is Yahoo. Somehow the spammers get through. I notice they keep changing their names slightly, which is how they get through the filters.

I get lots of them, the most recent being a loan approval from BOA. Needless to say I did not apply for a loan with BOA. I report them and delete them.

When I first started using computers, I was naive enough to use my one yahoo account for all places. There are so many places it's at now, it's probably too late to undo when it's already been out there for so long. I have since used Proton however.

I'm considering changing my old email address, due to annoying situation. However, worried about losing access to my Google workspace (aka Google Sheets).

Still looking for correct way to "Block Sender" on Android app and tablet. Only seem to have two options, "report as spam" and "mute".

Any suggestions?

I don't open email I do not know the person sending. I am the same with my house phone, it comes it with an identifier as a spam risk. When I am feeling fiesty I will answer these.

Calls from the extended car warranty show up with a Vin number. I answer those with so and so used cars an ask them what they are looking for. They ask about a VIN or model and I tell them it has been sold.

My favorite is answering as a funeral home, freaks them out big time, hang up right away. Winters Morgue, you kill em, we'll chill em. I got that from a family I knew as a teenager whose last name was Winter.

Sometimes I just need a few laughs, they are bothering us so why should we not bother them. LOL At least it gets of off a few call lists.
