Spencer's Mountain

It's too hot to do much today so I am sitting inside with the blinds closed and I'm watching, not for the first time, Spencer's Mountain with Henry Fonda and Maureen O'Hara. It is a delightful story and epitomises the values of a gentler age where cinematic entertainment was not rooted in violence, explosions, aggression, profanity, murder and revenge.

Where did we lose this vision of life and replace it with the mayhem of Mad Max and other films of that genre?
