Starbuck's Customers

So my youngest works at the Starbucks Coffee Outlet.

People will wait 30 minutes in the drive-thru for a $9.00 coffee. They're all nuts! A man came in yesterday and asked my daughter what the velocity of the coffee blender was, and got all mad when he didn't get a proper answer! Another patron wanted to know the expiry date on his bag of coffee. My daughter told him it was good for about a week after it is opened. That wasn't good enough and he said he would email the company to get the correct information. My daughter always has a story about a bonkers customer after each of her shifts.

Nothing beats working with the public to realize that half of the world is Looney Tunes! lol!

I love my Kroger coffee. Six dollars for a big can that lasts a couple of months.

Years ago when I quit smoking I was an Air Force wife. We couldn't get the nicotine patches from the base pharmacy unless we agreed to join a stop-smoking class. My group all expected the class to be a support group like AA but it was some Major checking his volunteer box by talking to us for an hour each week. He mainly talked about his coffee routine from the special beans to the grinder to the coffee machine to the type of cup. We all agreed that we never wanted a cigarette so badly as during his classes.

I hate working for the public... honestly, people can be so rude...

...also £9 for a coffee.. that's mental.

A few months ago, I wrote about it here.. I was queued in the coffee shop behind an older guy, and he was asked for £12 and change for one Banana and pecan flavoured coffee..... He didn't say anything but I almost fainted at hearing the price..

I only went to a Starbuck's once. I liked the coffee and more than that, enjoyed the street scene of the Manhattan neighborhood I was in. Just bought the regular coffee.

Took me so long to get to a Starbuck's as my mother & I were in the parking lot of one in New Hampshire. I don't remember why but we ended up not going in, promising each other we would wait to go together. Felt guilty about going in without her.

Reminds me of this joke;

The man getting served in front of me at Starbucks asked for a mocha. "Sorry sir, but we're out of mochas."

The guy was fuming.

"I have a mocha every morning when I come in here!" “This is B.S.” he raged.

"Fine! Just give me a darned latte!" He went and sat down, grumbling.>
I went to the counter and said, "I'll have a large latte too, please." They asked me for my name. I asked why they needed it and they told me that they'd write it on my cup and shout it when it was ready. So I told them my name was Mocha.

On my trips to MacMillan centre I often have a couple of hours between treatments and I go for a coffee.
Last time I found a small coffee shop in one of the side streets off Tottenham Court Road; £6.50 for a Latte and a Danish Pastry.

We have a coffee joint we prefer to Starbucks or Pete’s. You can get all the same drinks but I just like their coffee better. Plus their walk up window -no drive through- is outdoors and they have a large enough parking lot we can count on pulling in anytime to find a parking space if we’re on our way somewhere. But it is close enough we can easily walk too. The dogs love it because they always give us a couple of dog biscuits for them.

My wife’s preferred drink is a 12 oz, double shot, extra Carmel latte made with oat milk, flat. I always get a 12 oz medium roast, black. I can actually be content without an organic coffee blend they roast themselves but I have to admit the flavor of theirs is at least somewhat better.

Starbucks coffee is an occasional treat. Once I learned how to order- 2 pump grande, instead of their standard 4 pump it is good. Not cloyingly sweet!
Again, very occasional treat especially when they have the chestnut flavor at the holidays.

I like Starbuck's coffee. I I like dark roasted and I drink my coffee black. I buy the beans and just make it at home. It's priced slightly higher than other comparable coffees so I buy it as well as a few other brands. On occasion I can even find it reduced, 50 %, for quick sell because they're past the expiration date. I started drinking it because I literally worked 10' from one when it first opened all they passed out gift cards to us. Several non coffee drinking coworkers gave me theirs too. I've never met anyone who was forced to buy it.

I was impressed with Starbucks when they first came out. After a lifetime of drinking instant coffee or Maxwell House in a 2 pound can, my first thought was, "Oh, so this what coffee is supposed to taste like!" But after a couple of years, other roasters/importers appeared on the scene that matched Starbucks pound for pound. I was told once that Starbucks secret was that they discovered how to package fresh beans. Apparently when I grew up, you could not seal fresh beans in a can, because they gave off gas, that needed to escape. Not sure if that wrecked the coffee flavor, or it meant the cans would explode, but now almost all better coffees come with one of those one way valve outlets that lets the gas out while still preserving freshness.

Currently, I'm drinking Aldi's that comes in a can with the valve. It's really cheap too. Maybe I lost my taste for good coffee or maybe good coffee is the new normal, and quality doesn't seem to be determined by how much you pay. But I believe you can't depend on all coffee to be good. I should buy a can of that cheap stuff that I used to drink, and see if it's different now. Haven't had that kind for years.

All I know is that I've dumped more half drank Starbucks down the drain than any of the other brands. Nasty, burnt & too bitter for my taste.

Best I ever had, can't remember the kiosk's name, was a cup I had on a ferry crossing Puget Sound. Stout, mellow & too strong for the wife, no sharing.

'Dutch Brothers' is a better bet. Great customer service.

Tell your daughter some of us still appreciate a smile and friendly service. I love Starbucks coffee and buy it at Target and drink it at home every day. We are Sumatra fans. I also love their hot mocha.
