Street acts brighten the world.

Love it, what are these people of such value doing on the streets homeless? Still for sure street artists brighten up life and our towns and shopping centres sure need that. A song written by the Canadian maestro.

Sometimes life throws a curve ball, there are a lot of people down on their luck.....all with their own special value. That homeless man on the street piano had a lot of attention from the news. People reached out to help him get restarted on life. Here is the update to his story......

Brilliant Trila, that brought tears to my eyes, I must show it to my wife. Thanks for posting it. Always dreamed of playing the piano, a grand piano in a large lounge with the warm evening breeze billowing out the French Door curtains and dancing to Rachmaninov. The problem is I never got the large lounge overlooking the moon lit sea.

Okay, let me be the curmudgeon.

I love music. I'm in awe of musicians, both good and bad. They do something I can't, and I admire them. I also recall hearing many buskers in the London Underground before TFL decided licensing was required and killed it off. But it's really nice to see. When I was growing up, as a kid, there was an old man who would always be in the town center in my home town playing the accordion. Good memories.

Now for the curmudgeon part. Busking, like many things, has gotten out of hand. Instead of having someone standing at a corner or sitting on a wall playing, many of them now bring amplification with them. On top of that, generators/batteries for electric guitars, and laptops to create loops and such. It's too much, they're too loud, and they're blissfully unaware because of some strange feeling of entitlement. THEY might feel good playing and getting some cash, but I don't want random tunes blasted at me as I walk down the street.

The guy in Post 4 in this thread is a classic example. He's clearly talented, and I might like him otherwise. Instead, I find him obnoxious and self-involved, all sold as just being a simple busker.

Give me old time busking, and leave the amplification at home.

/end curmudgeoning.

I was reading that yesterday, new to me, so perhaps you would prefer Paris. Then London is no longer part of the UK it seems, more a State inside a State.
