Stupid or what?

Honestly I am not safe to be near anything that has any heat in it! :rolleyes:I was doing the ironing a few minutes ago, and dropped something on the floor. Instead of being sensible and putting the iron down I held onto it as I picked the item up, and managed to burn my left wrist. The burn is one inch long and nearly half an inch wide! I reckon I should put myself forward for the Guinness Book of Records for the number of burns I have incurred over the years, usually when messing around with the oven. Most of them are on my hands, which are a total mess, but I have a few on my face too! It is a good job vanity about my appearance isn't one of my vices!

Have you done anything stupid recently?
 

Yes..the oven is my Nemesis...I have so many burns on the top of my forearms..I look like I've been self harming..

I remember once..I was doing a casserole in the oven...I got it out..and for some reason the glass dish disintegrated it my hands...instead of throwing it on the floor..I kept hold of the boiling handles whilst the contents were going down me..and put it in the sink..(i mean the 2 handles and half the top!)..:confused:
 

I've burned myself many times simply because I'm always in a rush and not careful when I'm taking things out of the oven or ironing...but a stupid thing I did the other day which makes me laugh was while drinking from a bottle of flavoured water, someone asked me the time and I did the old classic slap stick thing of looking at my watch which was of course holding the bottle and the water went all over my work suit...:oops:
 
Curling iron, = burned ears and forehead, but mostly the ears. Also, I'm like Pappy always something with the toes, I've done permanent damage to my big toenail; in general, I'm always knocking something onto my toes from off of somewhere and living in FL, the feet are almost always exposed, so bound to cause injuries when something drops on them. :(
 
With BIG LONG oven gloves I STILL got brunt at the elbow while taking out that casserole....quick use of a ice cube to the area always works for me.
 
Blimey..my uncle used to use a curling iron 50 years ago..I remember once..he got it too hot and most of his DA came away with it...

Ha, ha, ha. I have put that thing away, at least for the past year; I've been sporting a hairstyle that requires very little care other than hair care products and shake and go. :D I am one happy camper these days. Now if only I could fix the foot/toe issue. :confused:
 
Another stupid thing I did was put boiling soup into the liquidizer...of course the top blew out and re-decorated the kitchen..:(
 
Not stupid at all Justme, I rarely use my iron, but I gave myself a similar burn years ago. Recently I pinched by thumb in a loose handle of a metal trash can, and got a blood blister. Not too long ago I got a long wood splinter under my finger nail, from wood border outside on the lawn, got that out with tweezers thankfully, but ouch!
 
I remember, years ago (before marrying), had an electric skillet that I used to cook chops, potatoes, eggs, etc. At the time, I was living in a small "efficiency" apartment that had a very small kitchen sink. I couldn't get the electric skillet in the sink to clean, so filled it part way with water and plugged it in to boil some. Was going to unplug, let it sit for awhile, dump the water into the sink and clean it on the counter. Not thinking, I tilted the skillet back some, with the water boiling in it (to get some crud off of the inside side of skillet). I tilted it back to far and some of the boiling water came out and onto the top of my right hand. Oh yea, it hurt. Didn't have to call 911, but did run cold water over the hand. For some DUMB reason, I thought I'd read something about putting butter on a burn. So, I did. I wrapped the hand up in small towel I had. The cold water had helped sooth the "burning" pain, but I didn't know the butter sure wasn't helping. Was able to get some sleep, but the next morning, when I got up for work, I checked on the burn. It sure didn't look good! Was able to wrap my hand enough to ride my motorcycle into the VA Hospital ER, where they took care of me. Put medication on it and wrapped it up. Went on in to work.

To this day, can still see the scar on the top of my right hand from that burn.
 
This is my arm from cooking last Thursday and the Thursday before that. The big one is the older one....

I don't burn myself very often but I have had three fires in my kitchen.
Does that count as stupid?
I finally got a new kitchen :grin:
