Summer going by quickly

The mosquitos, gnats and wasps are really bad by me Holly.....the main river and creeks are all around us.....and the mosquitos do carry lots of virus' with Lymes disease very prevalent thru our state....I get bit up badly.....had a wasp sting me in Six places on my belly a month ago and that was sooo painful and itchy.....they dont die afterwards either :( .... none of the bug repellents work for me except the dreaded OFF spray that has Deet in it, ugh.....is it a wonder I dont like summertime :( The beauty of the flowers is all I really enjoy :) And not a beach person, never have been.....

I can understand how summer could be a misery for you..I would hate that!! Even in arid hot southern Spain where I have a second home the mozzies are really the only problem, and only at night or about a week after heavy rain...

I often think of old days when there was no electricity. Just imagine you are living in the lod wet in sat Tuscon for example when the sun goes down darkness sets in for what had to be an eternity. You are in your home but have work to do outdoors but you can't due to darkness so you just sit there with your candle and stare at the walls. Those had to be long nights.

My favourite seasons are spring and fall. It’s nice enough to be outdoors for hours yet cool enough to enjoy it.
Summer is great fun for swimming and getting outdoor projects done but this year the heat zapped the energy from me.
The summer is flying by but possibly because we have had so much going on. I can’t believe it’s almost over.
Costco generally displays their seasonal items, at least, one season ahead.

When I was in school, back to school items were usually sold at the beginning of August.

I agree with those who can't wait for summer to be over! The heat here just makes me crabby and miserable and drains my energy. And it's too searingly hot to even THINK of doing anything outdoors after about 9:00 AM.

Not quick enough for me, looking forward to the fall and get some relief from this hot dry summer. For me, summer is my least favorite season, fall and spring are the best.

I couldn't have stated it any better, SB. I'll admit that for many years, we cheated a bit and spent Jan-Feb-Mar. in Florida. Once retired, without the necessity of heading out to work on snowy or slick roads disappeared and with family to do the shoveling, snowy weather isn't a problem where we live. Our winters, right at the coast are not as severe as those a few miles inland and prolonged cold spells are not the norm. Ocean temps help to moderate the coldest of days.
