Summer going by quickly

This summer is going by too quickly for me,it boggles my mind its mid-Aug already. I'm staying busy, the days just seem to zip by.
After the terrible winter we experienced here this yr in WNY,always look forward to the sunny days of summer, fleeting as it is for 3 months. I do take advantage of the warm sunny days, staying outside as much as possible, weather permitting.
The only part of summer I don't like is when its too humid,my energy is zapped by the afternoon,so I usually can't take my last walk of the day.Instead I'll read my book under the shade of the trees in our community garden,or sit in my living room with the fan cooling me off.
When I'm taking my early walks these past few weeks, its not as light as it was earlier in the summer, lately some of the leaves on the trees are beginning to turn,so autumn is right around the corner.
I wish there could be a way to bottle summer weather when 'mother nature' decides it time for the 'brrr chill' and white stuff starts again Sue

This is kind'a like bottling Summer.....

I feel the same as you moviequeen... I love the summer except the humidity... and we too had a very long harsh winter last year which lasted into April..but for 4 months we've had the hottest summer in 40 years. and no rain . and despite not having an AC, and only fans to try and cool the air at night to sleep.. I love the heat, and have spent almost every spare minute out in it, slathered of course in High factor lotion. I'm a real outdoors person, so I love any warm day. We've got so much done this year outside including building a new barn, without being concerned that it might rain .

We have heavy rain today tho'....much needed of course, but it'll be back to sun tomorrow, and soon Autumn which I love because of the changing colours, will be here. However it's already starting to get darker earlier, now at 8.30pm instead of almost 10pm just last month...and soon it will be back to Winter and the cold again. We can only hope that we don't get the harsh weather like last year, but I fear that with the climate changes this is the kind of thing we're likely to get much more..

I'll be glad to see the 90's and 100's go but I'm not ready for the cold single digits and teens of winter either......I can handle the heat better than the cold.

I hate the heat and humidity. I've always found it easier to cope with winter. In the winter, we expect to stay indoors, so the little bit of cold weather on my way to and from the car doesn't bother me. Although
I could do without the ice on the ground. (Our winters have been getting warmer; much less snow and ice than there used to be.)

But summertime, to most of us, brings back memories of playing outside as kids, enjoying beaches, swimming, hiking, gardening, etc. All the pleasures of the outdoors. None of those things are particularly appealing in 90 plus degrees. Not even swimming. At our local pool, they've had to add cold water!

Around here, Fall is usually the nicest time of the year....mid Sept., through mid December. Summer gets too hot and sticky, Winters can be rather cold for a couple of months, and Spring is usually quite rainy. However given the extremes that some parts of the nation have been seeing, we have been pretty lucky, here in the middle of the country.

Im in the Southern tier and you are so right, winter just didnt want to let go.
Im extremely heat sensitive and it seems at times I "hibernate" more in the summer, lol
Fall is my favorite season,I love the display that Mother Nature puts on for us!
Just dont like the next part.
My local $ General has the Halloween candy out already, thought we were still working on back to school.

HI Giantsfan, right after July 4th holiday was over, I was in Target a couple days later. They were already beginning to display 'back to school' stuff.Geez, give the kids a break, they just got out of school end of June!!!
My the times have changed,I remember we didn't have to think about 'school supplies' until maybe the last week in Aug
I agree with you about fall,it has become one of my favorite seasons.
I was in grocery store yesterday, they too had their Halloween candy and cards waiting to be bought Sue

I'm in the Sonoran Desert, and we've had approx 20 days of temps over 110F. So, yeah, I'm ready for summer to be over.

Not quick enough for me, looking forward to the fall and get some relief from this hot dry summer. For me, summer is my least favorite season, fall and spring are the best.

They certainly rush the seasons,I remember getting a costume in a box made of plastic with a mask...we didn't need lights, decor, plates and glasses for every holiday, usually a few pumpkins on porches.
My friend worked in Kmart, the Christmas trees had to be put together in the back room by Labor day weekend, she used to be the biggest Grinch, between the above, the music and the crabby people, she was done!

As I always said as a letter carrier: Thru rain and snow, sleet and hail, have no fear I'll bring your mail. But, when it goes above ninety in the hot summer sun.......forget you folks the mail don't run. That's when I hated it.
And as far as time flying by, remember........life is like a roll of toilet paper...the closer you get to the end...the faster it goes!

Halloween? That's nothing! Costco starts putting out their Xmas gift baskets in August!

I feel like I can't stand another day of this heat and humidity that we are having in New Jersey. The yard is a mess as well as my garden. If I go out in the early morning or late evening the bugs attack me. I can't wait for the fall. I'm afraid if I start a project indoors, then the weather might get better and I'll have to leave it half finished because I need to be outside cleaning up.

I feel sorry for the folks who have to get out in the sleet and snow. I did it for many years but now that I am retired I totally enjoy being snowed in especially after the holidays are over. I call February, March and April my vacation time. I have more projects lined up that I'll ever be able to finish in my lifetime. I don't have to think about the yard work except to plan next years garden. The hubby thinks I should get rid of the garden. I tell him if I do that I'll have nothing to complain about.

Here in Florida we also have four seasons; Almost summer, summer, after summer and February. Since moving here we no longer feel like summer is going. We mostly think winter is coming when February approaches and even then, most times I still wear shorts.

I'm with you SB....Im one of those strange folks that luvs winter....but I wait all year long, patiently for my favorite months to arrive: October and November......luv the coolness, the gorgeous colored trees, the fall festivals and Halloween....:)

Give me the four seasons anyday, but summer....too hot and buggy for me....

We're very lucky here we don't get many bugs..even in the high 90's temps we've had all summer the most we get are a few flies , wasps, bees, and the odd harmless house spider and at night Moths... rarely any mosquitoes unless we leave standing water anywhere...

Give me winter and snow! I hate the scorching Texas summers. They can't go by fast enough. I would leave here, but too many factors keep me where I am.

Oh Holly, the brits are suffering badly this summer with no A/C.....maybe investing in one window unit for summers like this that might be the norm each year would be a great relief, even for the pets....where I live in the states, we had the same hot humidness last year for three months...I could barely catch my breath outside and had to come in so quickly and rest....this year we had only a handful of humid days....was like tropical island weather but lots of rain....

Ive always luved the cool and cold weather TG.....the wind, snow, ice and bareness of the trees.....so peaceful and quiet outside, then to come inside to a warm house, aglow with decorative lights or candles and nice cuppa tea or hot cocoa....better tv series are running then too :)

The mosquitos, gnats and wasps are really bad by me Holly.....the main river and creeks are all around us.....and the mosquitos do carry lots of virus' with Lymes disease very prevalent thru our state....I get bit up badly.....had a wasp sting me in Six places on my belly a month ago and that was sooo painful and itchy.....they dont die afterwards either :( .... none of the bug repellents work for me except the dreaded OFF spray that has Deet in it, ugh.....is it a wonder I dont like summertime :( The beauty of the flowers is all I really enjoy :) And not a beach person, never have been.....
