Sunrise-sunset where you live - Summer Solstice

For us in Sydney it is the Winter Solstice. Sunrise will be at 7.00am and sunset at 4.54 pm and the daylight hours will be 9 hours and 54 minutes.

It's 11:14 a.m. here in Toronto right now. The sun goes down around 8:30 and gets dark around 9 or so. Sunrise is around 5:30 or 6.

The solstice used to be a special time for us in a different sense.

I used to live about a quarter of a mile from Stonehenge, and we needed to lock everything up against the depredations of all the world weirdos who used to turn up. Floodlight the garden to try and reduce the number of times it was used as a toilet, lock or secure your dustbin for the same reason!

Mountains of litter and you could get high just by spending twenty minutes downwind of the site!

The further north you live, the longer the days..
If you were up in the high Arctic, you woul;d be in the "land of the midnight sun"....
