Super Beets

I looked into the one on TV was quite pricey IMO ...
Tried a generic cheaper version tasted terrible... did not mix well and i did not see much difference.

I have come to the conclusion on most TV pitched items perhaps the "real" customers in them had a very unhealthy lifestyle to begin with and were not getting some nutrients/ supplements etc in this product.
I do not feel the need to shell out $$ at every pitch but obviously many do.

Has anyone noticed some of these products Super beets .. and others heavily advertised then sort of tapers off ... few months go by the ads start hot and heavy again....
Wonder if it is their current customers cancelling orders so back to ads replace. :ROFLMAO:

If you bury a fresh beet under a white rose bush,
you will get white roses with red streaks in the
flowers.

Is that a lovely myth, Mike?
Or are we possibly talking about beet lime, which might mitigate and improve, an overly acidic soil, which might influence a flower color, of a plant grown in that soil?

I am going to put beets on the grocery list! Also, how about turnips and rutabagas? I hated them growing up, but my BIL in Vermont cooked some up the right way, they were drop-dead delicious! https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/how-to-cook-turnips/

All three of those store longer in the refrigerator than many foods, which is handy too, so feel free to stock up on them, while you're at it, Nathan!

It is not a myth Kaila, I have never done this myself, but a friend
has and he showed me the result, beautiful white flowers with
red through the petals.

I have never heard of beet lime, I am from a small village where
in the 1950s, things were different, fertilizer was manure, cow's
manure for vegetables, horse's manure for roses, tea leaves for
anything. I don't know a lot, but some things stick in the mind
from childhood, no doubt you too have experienced this.

Yes, we have beet root once a week! We add some olive oi, vinegar, salt and pepper at table. In summer they are best precooked thn chilled. I add the vinegar and oil, salt and pepper and let them set in a bowl in the fridge for summer meals.

I read its good to eat a variety of different coloured veg.

We have beet root with oven baked Sardines or Mackerel. Tasty if you do up the salt, vinegar and olive oil. Fairly easy meal. Not expensive either, with rice.

That is all fascinating, Mike. Thanks for your sharing.
I have always been very interested in gardening methods, and I remember the 1950's too.
