Supermarket injuries

I was supermarket shopping a couple of days ago while hubs was at the drs getting his ears flushed to get a better idea of adjusting his hearing aids when he visits the hearing dr next week ( we normally do the shopping together )

When I arrived at the check out there was one shopper waiting with only a handful of items
so I started putting about the dozen things I had, on the end of the belt ..next thing I know I’m almost knocked off my feet by a shopper steering / pushing the trolly right into my left side
(I was at the end of the belt )

I said ouch that hurt but the females obviously didn’t speak English/ or choose not to get involved, just smiled at me and went on their way as if nothing had happened .

I spoke to the lady serving when it was my turn she was not concerned however I said can I speak to someone about this as it would have been caught on camera she said oh speak to someone at the service desk which I did, they took my name but wasn’t the least concerned ,he also took my phone number promising to have the manager call me about this issue first thing this morning of course no call

I have a bruise the size of a apple just below my hip and 2 big red marks where the trolly rammed into me .

Ive put up with 2 nights of next to no sleep due to upper leg / back pain so I’m about to call to get a Drs appointment

Its just as well I’m reasonably fit due to our dancing or i would have been knocked off my feet
and possibly ended up with further injuries

So sorry Kadee. The only time I've had a mishap in the grocery store (slipped on a wet patch on the floor) they were bending over backwards to make sure I was ok. It got kind of embarrassing, actually.

It's been a few years now that I do my grocery shopping on line and it gets delivered to me. There isn't any charge for delivery if you order one of about 50 things they have listed and I always need one of them. The delivery guy carries the groceries in and puts them on my kitchen table. Of course I give the delivery man a tip. It is so much better than going to the store and putting up with all the aggravation of rude people.

I HATE tipping, but it seems to have become a necessary evil. No one ever tipped me for doing my office job well. Anyway, as I get older and will give up my driver's license in 3 years when I turn 80, I will have to order my groceries. How much is a reasonable tip for the drivers? I didn't know they actually bring it in, I thought they handed it off at the door.

I've only seen a shopping accident once where a woman slipped and must have sprained her ankle cuz she could not walk after slipping. Staff helped her right away with a motorized shopping cart in which she could sit, then she sat down at a cafe table in the concession area with them and they wrote down a lot of stuff. I don't know how it worked out, but store staff cared at least.

I am sorry Kadee taht you got injured, it could have been
a lot worse.

Several years ago I posted here about a man who was hit in
a supermarket deliberately pushed by a woman because he
was holding her up and she was in a hurry, he rushed to the
hospital, where he died a couple of months later.

Mike.

Kadee46, I'm not an attorney, so my legal advice comes free of charge-and, remember you get what you pay for. Like we have been saying, I don't think the store has any liability because another customer injured you. The store didn't do anything wrong. I was about to dismiss your complaint until you described your injuries. Maybe you should see a physician

Some years ago, I was shopping late at night and slipped on liquid wax in the supermarket. The employee came running to help me, but I couldn't stand up .. just kept slipping. The floor cleaners had failed to put up a "wet floor" sign. When I slipped, I fell backward and hit my head - I knew I would hit my head, so I tried to control the fall. My coat was covered in liquid wax .. fortunately, it was washable, though it took about 4 washes to get it all out. The management wasn't there at that time of night, but they emailed me. All I wanted, was for them to make certain their cleaners used their signs, so this didn't happen to another customer. I think they offered me coupons, but I didn't want them.

Hope you are not still in pain, Kadee. Sorry this happened to you.

I went to my GP on Friday after two nights of next to no sleep due to pain
GP seems to think it’s a brushed bursa / sort tissue injury that will heal in time
I tend to agree think it shocked me me being hit with the trolly
I agree @applecruncher its not Coles fault it’s irresponsible customers
