Survey: Half of America Thinks The Stench of Pot Is A problem

I'm with Bonnie. I don't like things polluting the air I breathe, whether it's cigs, dope or deisel fumes.

Cannabis does have a distinctive aroma. But the idea that you can't walk down a street without being overcome by the smell of cannabis is a little much. For all those in this forum, who state that cannabis reeks, when was the last time you smelled it? I haven't smelled it in the last 50 years. This "poll" sounds like someone's personal political agenda.

The last time I smelled cannabis was a few days ago. I know people who smoke it. Just like I knew people who smoked it when I was in college. Shoot, they used to smoke it in the women's resource center on campus. It had a unique smell then, but now the smell is much more pungent, and downright stinky. The smell of it has gotten worse imo.

To be honest, this "poll" sounds like a bunch of *****. First, when was the last time you were walking down the street and smelled pot? An hour ago, Um, maybe NEVER!! Well, apparently 100% of everybody in the US & Canada has. Not only that, but everybody in North America is acutely aware of the aroma of cannabis versus a cigar, pipe tobacco, a bakery, paint store, or 10,075 other odors. Exactly. (Except I smell pot frequently. :D)

I have to smell th poop quite frequently because we have a pot smoking neighbor. He tries walking around in his backyard like he's smoking a cigarette or cigar. Once there's a wind shift and he realizes others can smell his stench he lights up his fire pit and throws in a scented log which is just as bad because the amount of smoke must 25 times his joint. On other days/night he lights his fire pit right away burning anything in sight including trash. And others stays out there for hours staring at an illegal fire because not only is he burning trash he now bypasses the fire pit burning debris directly off the ground now-who says pot doesn't make one lazy.

Once that smell gets in the house it takes days for it to leave or dissipate. I've had to close windows on all sides of the house at times because of wind. Am I supposed to run AC or heat when I don't need just because my neighbor is a doper. To top it off the house he bought has been recently renovated including a brand new hvac system including new duct work and new paint. What does that tell one about the stench let alone the individual. What's the matter his recently renovated home too good for the smell of pot. Or deep down that doper knows that his poop stinks.

I don't care for the smell of pot and I don't like the lingering smell of it in people's homes, vehicles, clothes, etc...

To be honest, I don’t even know what it actually smells like. I’m not ever around anyone that smokes it and I only tried it once when I was 25 and that was in my own home with my husband and his friend..so 3 people smoking it.

I have no memory of the smell...

The smell or stench has been an issue several years before this survey.

People have noticed the stench and/or bad smells in states that have legalized it. Most still support legalization but have noted a lack of discretion by users who were much more careful before legal.

One of things I noticed the pot lobby did was pounce on social media and commenting on every story they could about pot legalization and related issues. One of the tacts they pushed was conflating legal with not harmful. And making a voluntary choice a civil rights issue. It's this 'it's my right I'm gonna do what I want when and I want' that perpetuates that lack of discretion. It's also probably helping make for pot addicts because regular pot users smoke frequently and all times of day which is another set of workplace and safety issues.
