Survey - Who has their Christmas šŸŽ„ up

I haven't bothered with a typical real or artificial tree since mom passed in 2006. The first Christmas I moved in my new house (2021) I got out the ceramic tree I made for her back in the early 1970s (see photo I took when I was still at the old house), but since then, I haven't even done that. I have a 4 foot artificial tabletop tree in the basement and all the decorations I saved from yesteryear (luckily they didn't get damaged when my basement flooded last summer). It just doesn't seem worth the effort when I live alone and have no holiday visitors. Santa also stopped coming after mom passed.

Everyone, meet Duke. He is a 4-year-old rescue. When he came to live with us a month ago, his name was Meatloaf... Didn't really know his name, so we thought he looked like a Duke... He is Lab/Mastiff
Ahhhhh! Duke is precious. Thanks for the picture. He’s a lucky dog. I’m glad you changed his name.

hello Duke welcome to your new and very loving home, and to the senior forum even though you aren’t a senior. We hope to hear a lot about you in the future.ā¤ļø

My pitbullā€˜s name was piglet at the Animal Shelter, which is right up there in the stupid category with meatloaf. I swear I don’t know where they come up with the names they come up with, but she sort of knew her name so that was how she ended up being Pippa when I brought her home.

your Duke is a very sweet looking fella. I know he’s got a great home. I hope he settles in soon.šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡

Duke has pretty much settled in, still has a few probs, but is getting through them slowly... Duke is from the fires in BC this past summer... Somewhere along the way, he ended up with a broken jaw... oddly shaped now... and we also believe somewhere along the way we think his ear got frostbitten...

Here and there, we have to put on puppy-relaxing music and give him time to cool and settle... but each day, he is approving...

didn't take him long to know what the couch is for...

Sorry for hijacking this thread... I will start a new one for Duke...

Traditional in my family was to wait until two weeks before Christmas.

When my son was around ten, it was tough to get him to wait until after Thanksgiving. So right after Thanksgiving became the new tradition.

I haven’t celebrated any holiday since I lost him in a car accident. Granted that was 1993, but I am a mom who never completely recovered; if it weren’t for my horses, I would still be a basket case.
