Swing real high and jump off

While seated, I would wait 'til the apex of the backswing. Then still holding onto the chains and do a flip and land on my feet.

It's so nice to see these types of swings are still around and used. Changed a bit in looks and materials
but the basics are still the same and kids still love them and wait for them to empty.

Yes, we used to swing on them. I always waited until the swing stopped before getting off of them. I felt like I was flying when it went higher and higher.

Yes, my dad worked for PG&E, and he made us a large swing set out of telephone poles. It was great and yes .... jump off I did.

Yes I played on swing sets. I don’t remember ever standing on the swing and jumping off but I do remember sitting down and jumping off while at the highest I could go.

Yep, we did that. The next-door-neighbor boy was a bit of a sissy and I dared him to do that. He was afraid but, to my shame, I bullied him into trying.

I'll never forget the snap! as his arm broke.

He got even with me some time later when he shot me in the forehead with his Daisy Red Ryder BB Rifle (which was my fault, too).

Yes we jumped off the playground swings, landings are a little softer when you only weigh 80lbs. and have flexable bones. lol

I was never a jumper but I do remember getting konked on the noggin a couple times with those chains and heavy wooden seats.

It’s probably a better and safer world for kids today but you have to admit that we were all pretty quick to learn from our experiences on the playground.

No to jumping. I never seemed to have the momentum to go very high. That made standing ok.

When my boys were young, I looked out the window and they and their friends were walking across the top vertical tube of the swing set. Future iron workers? I didn't waste any time telling them to stop before disaster struck.

BTW we did jump of the swings when we were kids.

I was always a 'scaredy cat' never game enough to try anything, probably because our mother was always saying, "Be careful".

I was never athletic, even as a kid, but one thing I could do was to hang from the top bar of the swingset by the top of my feet or the back of my heels. Why I could do that but never could do a cartwheel is beyond me.
