As a kid I loved Tarzan movies. Later I read some of the Tarzan novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Like Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe novel, I found them quite racist.

What a unique series of films-- all shot in and around L.A. I haven't seen all of them, but they have a certain primitive charm.
Wildly popular Olympic multi-gold swimming champion Johnny Weissmuller became an instant hit playing Tarzan.
Weissmuller owned a health food store and diner on Hollywood Blvd. for many years. I used to go in there quite often in the late 1960s, but I was never lucky enough to see Weissmuller.
He had become quite a celebrity, and had married stormy actress Lupe Velez in an early marriage. Interesting fellah.
