Tattoo For You?

Tattooed people always look like they're dirty and need a shower. One little one could be cute, but many tattoos and all-body inks look totally disgusting. My opinion only, no one needs to agree or disagree.

Justin Bieber is only 25 and he's been covering his whole body, who knows what he will look like in his senior years. YUCK!

Yeah, but you would think we would have better evolved by now and not need such primitive ''art'' by defacing our body.

When my son-in-law was making great money selling comics in his three stores in the early 1990's, he spent over $2000 having a whole arm tattoo of The Alien. Now that he can't even keep up with his mortgage payments and can't afford to have it redone (it all looks like a shapeless blue blob), he said he regrets the money he wasted on it. It looks like the photo below, his is from his shoulder to the wrist on one arm.

I've thought about it. If I did it, I'd get one on the inside of each forearm:
"I will always remember the dead"
"I will never forget the living"

The first is a reminder to cherish the memory of all I've loved and lost, two legs and four legs.
The second is a reminder to embrace each day, and always look forward.

You don't need to deface your body to cherish those sentiments.

Back in the dartk ages when I was coming of age, many of my friends were getting a tattoo. They wanted me to get one, too.
I didn't want one, remembering an old radio show I no longer remember the name of. But it started out saying, Calling All Cars,
Calling All Cars. Be on the look out, for a white male with a scar across his face and a tattoo on his lleft forearm. I didn't want
anything extrordinary that would help identify me. Don't know why the tattoo stuck with me. In the service, guys were getting
tattoos, insisting I get on. "Mother," "Death Before Dishonor." Etc, etc. I'd remember that radio progrm and pass. I guess I'm
glad I did. If you want one or many, fine. I didn't, I don't.

At one duty station we had a cook who very proud of the "ships screws" he had tattooed on his butt cheeks. I always thought that was one of the most unimaginative things I had ever seen.

I was 18 at the time and lived in an open-bay barracks in Washington State. There was no privacy and our Brownie our cook made a practice of baring his butt to any new arrivals. One day another Petty Officer pointed out to Brownie he had two left screws and that a real twin screwed ship had differently shaped screws since one rotated clockwise and the other rotated counterclockwise. They work together better that way.
After that our cook became known as "left screwed Brownie", but we didn't give him too much grief because you "don't mess with the guy who can mess with your grits."
Our site was very close to the Lumni Indian reservation and one story was that Brownie (who had a drinking problem) decided to "bare his butt on the bar" of their beer joint. This was not the best idea that Brownie ever came up with as the Indians were not amused.

Not my SIL, just a random photo (should have specified). I don't have a photo of his arm with the (now muddled) full arm tattoo. Yeah, guy on photo is good looking, and oh, that ripped chest. 😻 😻 Too bad he messed up his perfect arm skin.
 
There is nothing wrong with a discrete tattoo which can be easily covered with normal clothing. However, when people deface their face, neck and entire bodies with this "fad", I suspect they have some mental issues. If I were an employer, and someone covered with this nonsense applied for a job, I would quickly trash his/her resume.
 
Admittedly I'm not into tattoos. That said, all things considered, at my age, I'm also trying to stay away from any sorts of additives (including inks), etc. as best I can. Just don't think they'd be good for me physically.

This also means "embracing the gray" with regard to my hair. No dying the hair here.

It always amazes me that I hate the guy because of his inconsideration for the suffering of animals, yet he and I agree so strongly about tats. I guess you can always find something to like about every individual.
 
I have a small light pastel colored one that I got around forty years ago, still love it. It only showed when I wore a french cut bikini, needless to say it hasn't been visible to the public for many years, my husband still likes it also. It rarely saw the sun, so it never faded. I have no problems with tattoos, it's up to the person getting them. My husband has none.

To each their own when it comes to body tattoos. I don't like tats never did. Peer pressure worked for 77 of the 78 recruits in the Navy Great Lakes recruit training company I was in. I was the only recruit in my company that wouldn't get one.
 
I've never had the desire to get a Tattoo,and neither has my husband. Our son has many and his 2 sons have more than I can count. The good thing about their Tattoos is they can't be seen if they are dressed for work. My SIL has a few and the one I like the most is my granddaughters foot print.

As the founder and former owner/operator of the first licensed tattoo shop in Texas, I can tell you that this thread contains much misinformation. I've been through this, in here, so many times, before, that I'm not going there, again.

Y'all enjoy your tattoo myths: If you repeat them enough times, maybe they'll magically come true, one of these days.........
