Florida - This makes me sick, if it was a dog drowning I would do all I could to save it and call for help if need be. What's with people these days, so many are heartless. :(http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/20/us/florida-teens-drowning-man/index.html

A group of Florida teens who taunted a drowning man while filming his death from afar will not be criminally charged, according to police. In the more than two-minute long video, the five teen boys -- who are between the ages of 14 and 16 -- can be heard laughing as the man struggles to stay afloat, police say, in a pond near his family's Cocoa, Florida, home.

Instead of calling for help, the teens recorded the incident on a cell phone, chuckling during the victim's final moments.

The teens can be heard warning the man that he was "going to die" and they were not going to help him. At one point, one of the teen boys can be heard laughing, saying "he dead."

I hope this trend of mocking the disabled will come to an end soon. It's disgraceful. A man's life was lost. Things really need to change before common human decency is just a memory.

In my opinion it goes back to the home and how folks are raised. My two girls were raised in a church going family. We were active in the choir, taught Sunday School, the works. I was dismayed when having lunch with them (which is rare as one lives in Va.) they both were laughing at their best friends (then in college) who are now active in their church, holding youth retreats, working with the homeless, etc. I did not expect them to continue their beliefs as they reached adulthood as we all have to find our way and I often explained that to them. But to put down their college friends beliefs as trivial and mock them was very disappointing to me. I didn't say too much to them but they knew I was upset with them. My faith is very important to me even though I have evolved in my thinking and don't think I am really religious but am more of a spiritual being. I just have to think they are still searching for their truth and remember its not mine but theirs to find in their own way. In many ways I have changed having left the Baptist faith for the Episcopal one with a lot of the Unity Church thrown in. But common decency is what I expect from everyone and sadly its not there anymore.

Tragic story.

Some people believe that technology and the internet have taken a toll on young folks ability to empathize with others. I don't know if that is true or not but I do believe that the anonymity that the internet provides brings out a mean and ugly side in many people. I also agree that unfortunately it's nothing new, remember the Romans, the lions and the Christians.

Having a disabled child, this is extremely upsetting. It speaks volumes as to how these teenagers were raised, but having been born with an ounce of care & compassion should have resulted in a different ending. Tragic.....

This is on the same order as those who torture pets as a child. The prisons are full of them.
